The Swarm Expedition 22

It might be cool enough to attract me away from “The Magnificent”

Not that I’ve done much on PS due to real life pulling me away right at the point it really took off. I’m not so far behind, I’m just following for the ride. :slightly_smiling_face:

Anyone else running frigate missions? My last 2 were cancelled when I saved and quit the game. I believe this is the return of a really old bug but I would like to see it duplicated by others.

I am and they’ve all been fine, so far.

I am on experimental so it may be a bug headed to public. I would like to report it before then.

I too am on experimental,. Just in case it may be relevant for the conditions to trigger any bugs my fleet has just The Leviathan an all non-organic frigates otherwise, also I am typically not sending Leviathan out. My entire fleet is now S class. I am sending them out from systems far from the expedition area too.

One mission is still out for another 32 mins, but the other four have all returned as normal.

I have been getting the odd call to either answer a question, go help them fight pirates (and actual pirates have been spawning), translate text or scan flora etc. not every day but twice on some days, so on average once per day.

So to be clear, it seems to be me saving and quitting while they are out on their missions. Then on reload, my missions are all gone. It has happened twice.

That has never happened to me - yet. I do tend to save and quit the game if I need to be away for more than a short time, which usually means I send my fleet out in the morning or at lunchtime, will have saved an quit and will debrief them in the evening after work etc.

Not on experimental, but I’ve literally just did that - saved and quit last night while the mission was ongoing, loaded this morning and it was there and complete. .

So, why do we dismantle some crashed swarmers, and get the data out of others? Shouldn’t we be doing both for all of them?

Idk but soon it will not matter. 90%

It is moving very much faster now, we might reach 100 % tomorrow!

Keen to find out how this will progress and what happens next. On my new start for the expedition I have learned all the Vy’keen words, and have about 80 each left to learn for Gek and Korvax, looking forward to being able to get more Atlas words and start on the Autophage words.

This morning the bug did the same thing again. To repeat it I did this. Solo play. Entered the Anomaly. Did the seek and destroy swarmers in space mission and returned to Anomaly.

Then selected assist Polo and handed Polo the Dioxite I already had with me. Next I exited the Anomaly without selecting the last mission. Then in space opened the Expedition Menu page to select the Countermeasure main menu and selected the last available mission. Manually warped directly to the mission system but immediately called the Anomaly and entered. The mission completed and even gave me bonus 5 Acid? items (I didn’t know that was a bonus reward). I think though you do get bonus something, if properly doing the mission on the planet. The swarmer goo stuff is only obtainable if the mission is completed correctly so because of the bug, missed out on that opportunity.

The short summary is, there is definitely a bug causing the early completion of some of the planet side swarmer missions if entering the Anomaly early.

Those seem to be exclusive to sabotage missions. So I guess the negativity points comes from not dismantling and just taking the hard data. Leaves more of a mess for fragments to clean up :joy:

Kinda sad I stopped doing Sabotage missions because the data gathering was one of my favourite ones the 7 times I did them.

Ah thanks for that. I completely forgot to try it this morning. I’ll try and remember later, but do it the way I saw it previously.

Maybe you don’t need to dismantle them once you’ve done the data capture. I done both for a few though, if I’m not in a rush.

I’ve managed to tame a living ship from the expedition, this survivor of the swarm will be coming back to a normal galaxy with me when it’s is all over.

A little detail, that the prismatic core has the word “SWARM” rotating around it.

Something I’ve never seen happen in the long history of NMS SteamDB stats has occured.

(I may have only ever seen this once before in the past… I can’t recall when though)

Usually with a NMS update, the playerbase will decrease week on week until another update comes out causing it to rise again…

The past two sundays, it has gone UP. This sunday even more than last sunday.

I attributed last sundays increase to the game being on sale on steam.

It seems the countermeasures approaching 100% might explain the even larger increase this week (16,200 concurrent vs last weeks 15600 concurrent vs 15100 concurrent two weeks ago)

Here you can see the typical downward slope of a typical update release, with the unusual upward slope after its decline with Swarm at the very end

Here’s a closer view of the swarm update. It’s just a small bump, but an unusual bump all the same.

Considering it’s an expedition, it’s even more unusual.

Obviously the nature of the expedition has a lot to do with that of course, but it’s incredible to see that its intended purpose seemed to work, and it’s not just us die-hards that are still invested in seeing countermeasures reach completion.
