The Swarm Expedition 22

As a Sage, I have done a total of 14 missions so far. 2 of those were sabatoge missions but I stopped doing those early on and decided to not sabatoge in the event that it does actually effect the progress bar going up or has some sort of other hidden weight to this lifestyle choice.

Go Sages!

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday basically had the same peak player count on steam… I can’t recall if I’ve ever seen that happen with NMS before during the weekdays… The repeatables/competitive goal seem to surely be doing their thing.

Also coming in with an update on total player count.. Let’s see, where are we now…

47,830 Weavers
47,694 Royals
47,541 Sages
143,065 Total

Just gonna repost the totals from previous days to make handy growth comparison so far

May 29th - 48,387 Total Traveller Fragments 2-3%
May 31st - 92,416 Total Traveller Fragments 8.1%
Jun 2nd - 122,252 Total Traveller Fragments 13.1%
Jun 3rd - 143,065 Total Traveller Fragments 17.5%

Weekend flew up in percentage without xbox players, compared to the expeditions first few weekdays…

The player count went up big time when the Xboxers arrived on Monday as well as no doubt some first time buyers of the game joining in (seen a lot of those posting around the place on various sites).

Theres been large increases to the player count each day this week… The percentage has gone up quite a lot as a result.

We might get this done a lot sooner than I recently thought, but I also imagine there will be a drop off in participation as the days and weeks go on. Eventually most folk will tire or forget/fall out of routine.

Is the days remaining just a estimate?

The timer above the percentage bar? Thats the internal server deadline from HG’s end.

This accompanies all community milestones within Expeditions (like the one in Adrift), and also the QS unlock tiers, though they are usually invisible.

It’s basically a failsafe if the community doesn’t reach the hidden numerical goal. Basically if we don’t get there before it, it will auto complete the task for us.

Some people tend to mistake the internal server countdown as being the only method of completion and that any community contributions are false and illusionary. Which is not the case, it’s just the community rarely ever gets there before the deadline, because by and large, the community tends to avoid doing QS missions after a certain point.

I was revisiting Swarm Update - No Man's Sky to look at the little video where it shows what the three different completed cores will look like, and I noticed something I hadn’t before.

Theres the coreicon in the top corner, that doesn’t look like the finished core…

But then theres also a section in the small clip, that shows another variant of a half completed core

I think at certain percentage intervals, we will start to see the new Core throughout various stages of construction.

Will it be 25% or 33%? Curious now to see which intervals of percentages it will be when we start to see the changes,

I think that icons probably some tech we get, I saw this earlier this evening while doing my missions

We’re trapped!

I’ve collected all 16 glyphs and use portal to go to center of Euclid. I built a base “Galaxy center E22” and jump…

and the expedition restarted, back in Euclid! but with all my progress kept in the expedition (multitool, tech slots are all out unfortunately)

We’re trapped in Euclid!

Ah, I hadn’t been on today yet. So, the construction phases have already begun  Wooo!

According to Galactic atlas we are on 20.2% now. So I guess the phases happen at 20% intervals. I was wrong with both my guesses of 25 or 33 % :joy:

Thank you for conducting this experiment, fellow Citizen Scientist! (was thinking of trying that after work to see what would happen :slightly_smiling_face:)

On the topic of expedition quirks, I found while wanting to go on a staff-making sidequest in between missions that despite being able to find and reveal Autophage camps with my Atlas Sceptre, my gifts and interactions with them don’t seem to be increasing my standing enough to unlock their missions. Staff assembly appears to be available at their terminals though, if you brought parts or void motes into the expedition (I didn’t).

same, started fresh this time

Looks like it. I just had this pop up.

Aha! Yes I saw 20% and saw the completion banner before I logged off yesterday, I haven’t checked the Nexus again since then.

I would have put some of these small floaty two-finger bots around the Nexus, they always struck me as diligent workers.

Wooo, the in-game percentages have done better than the Galactic Atlas website with the latest patch. Not just one number after the decimal, but TWO!

Current progress is rounded up at 22% (21.9% with galacticatlas decimal detail) with a breakdown of

Royal 7.25%
Sage 7.19%
Weaver 7.39%

This gives us a more accurate current percentage of 21.83%

Sage was close with Royals on playercount last time I checked, only 80 in the difference, but that seems to have slipped considerably now.

Current player count per team is

Weavers 53,788
Royals 53,581
Sages 53,248
Total 160,617

We might be able to get a more accurate reading on point total needed for countermeasure completion now with the extra decimals

1,847,431 is 7.39% (100% = approx. 24,999,066.31)
1,811,969 is 7.25% (100% = approx. 24,992,675.86)
1,797,750 is 7.19% (100% = exactly 25,000,000)

Chalk that up to sages for the win, their number + percentage gave the exact figure. Gooooo SAGES! cough go weavers! cough cough

5,457,150 / 25,000,000

They’re too busy hanging out down by our ships, avoiding work on some sort of permanent 10 minute smoke break.

Too many decimals! The game is art : D

I don’t believe the percentages are really necessary at all, even in the Nexus Quicksilver graphic. Perhaps there should simply be a link to see more detail or ask Nada for the result. ‘Hey Nada how are we doing?’ > ‘Badly, you’d better get a move on.’ : D

It’s been a few days, figure it’s time for an ol update on traveller fragments.

63,514 Weavers
63,445 Royals
62,915 Sages
189,874 Total
Royal contribution: 9.22%
Sage contribution: 9.14%
Weaver contribution: 9.41%

27.77% total

(approximated to 28% in-game, or 27.8% on Galactic Atlas.)

Where does this leave us, on the potentiality of surpassing the Steam Launch day numbers across all platforms for the 10th anniversary?

Well, first we need to hope and pray that the 10th anniversary update is submitted for certification a few weeks ahead of its release… So that XBOX and Switch can be there on the day too. If that’s not going to happen, NMS10 organisers may need to re-set what day they want to try have this happen on :grimacing:

But as the numbers stand, steam launch day numbers were 212,613

This means, based off current total traveller fragments, we are 22,739 away from that number. We still don’t have nintendo players in the expedition yet. They might be the last piece of the puzzle to get us there. It’s also good to keep in mind, some of these fragments are people doing the expedition with multiple saves.

Big updates tend to bring back more players than stand alone expeditions, so I think it’s certainly looking feasible now.

Lets just hope HG have their ducks in a row for launching it simultaneously on all platforms… Xbox and Nintendo, get your crap together on patch approval :stuck_out_tongue:
