The Swarm Expedition 22

These are the choices for how WEAVER was selected within my new save on PS5. Winning LoL

Yeah I’m doing it from my main save too, so I’ll not bother building much on the freighter, but it is useful and came with a gravatino ball farm.

The choices don’t actually dictate what team you end up on, that seems to derive from either your username, your games digital license, or perhaps even your systems mac address.

Regardless of choice, you always seem to get the same team on your gaming system. I have tested this one several different accounts and platforms.

I also made a poll up here if you’d like to add to the stats

Today was a nice day for Swarm Missions, someone built an actual useful non griefing base at the Swarm Wreck POI. Lots of landing pads for people to save on launch fuel, and nothing covering the objective.

I’ve literally just visited that one, too. It was very useful to shelter in for the radiation protection.

Maybe because I am on experimental?..I have not seen any bases at all on the POI since the patch

That would make sense as you’ll only see stuff built by people on same version as experimental, which looking at all this weekends updates, is certainly ahead by a few now.

@adsk46nkster I wonder if we crossed paths, went there twice on console and then PC.

The experimental group are serious players. No hijinks

I’m playing with MP turned off, so could have been there at exactly the same time.

Current stats on galactic atlas is rounded to 2.7% from each team.

Weavers have 684,071
Royals are at 677,071
Sages not far behind with 672,212

Total of 2,033,982.

Total percentage according to Galactic Atlas is 8.1%

This would put the community goal somewhere around 25,110,889, hard to get an exact figure without a second or third decimal point reported from Galactic Atlas but that seems to be rough goal we have to hit.

I’ve completely stopped doing sabotage missions, but I can understand people in Sage avoiding the restore missions to not give points to other teams, and also doing the sabotage missions to get out of 3rd place. I imagine this is what HG meant by “teams coordinating” on the release log page for Swarm.

Current unique traveller fragments for the teams currently stand at

30,915 Weavers
30,845 Royals
30,656 Sages
92,416 total

Tonight is the weekly peak player count for the game, will check those figures again and see where they lay.

I think XBOX are still waiting… Will be interesting to see where the numbers jump when that update lands, and then how high it goes come next Sunday.

I’m just happy we might be finally able to gauge just how many active players there tends to be during an expedition, across all platforms.

I didnt notice it the first few days but the progress bar is visible on the base of the core

Hah, curiously I removed that very base you pictured and unfortunately also had to remove a couple of others nearby, as in my solo game I could not use the terrain manipulator to edit the terrain. I had to dig into the ground to then get the Gravity Coil to focus on the last part I needed to pull. It worked thankfully and managed to complete the mission : D I filled in all the holes I left behind and those underneath the bases. Nice and tidy : D

It was difficult one to dismantle. The last piece involved standing inside the back and shaking it. It didn’t come out of the casing, but I got the success fanfare anyway.

Same – also around that time this morning, with MP off. Didn’t see the cross atop the build, maybe it was still under construction at that time … Funny to think the three of us crossed paths within the same hour or so.

Another useful base, as it gave me a chance to shoot the swarm from behind a pillar. I felt bad that I reported it, as i just couldn’t get the last piece out and thought I could try digging round it. The whole thing is quite big though and it doesn’t really work. Plus there were some corridors beneath it that seemed to remain. Anyway I eventually got it out and still didn’t complete the mission. It was only when I fired away a piece of wing that was sitting by the casing still, that it finished.

Here’s a crashed swarm member from below:

You can see the guilty piece in the shot, at the top.

Man, there is TOO much to catch up on here  im avoiding the ARG stuff for now because its too hard to follow multiple threads.

This expedition has to be the most exciting one, for me, so far.

Regarding the progress bar:
Many of us are aware that the progress bars in the past were semi-rigged. We can finish the progress bar faster than expected at times, and other times its clear that HG sped it up. This time around, I think HG might be trying to refine how this works by evenly distributing the players to be “fair”, but I wonder if the selection process is as simple as “evenly distribute players, unbiased” or “evenly distribute ACTIVE players among the three”? This would help the teams be actually competetive.

On a different note, after seeing the swarm destroy atlas stations, I feel like this might be leading up to the swarm destroying the Anomaly so that maybe it may be replaced with a new one that can be achieved by players building it. (If you think about it, the exterior of the anomaly hasnt changed but all the other stations have. Its about time it gets an update on the exterior… and damaging it from an expedition is a cool way to introduce it.)

The experimental version seems to have fixed this. I can now grab a piece with the grav gun and then tap the action but to collect the ichor and it then counts. No need to actually rip the part out

There’s an item in it about improving the physics of dismantling the pieces, so I had hoped it would make it a bit easier. Thanks for the confirmation, I look forward to its release…though I suppose I could switch to it.

Ran across this working the mission for the sentinel ship in my expedition save

I was already uneasy about the sentinel ships…

I like the idea that three groups get choices to give themselves an advantage, give the other two a disadvantage, and/or distribute the advantage evenly across all three groups, that makes it an interesting choice.

(I dream that we achieve an equilibrium and HG will say, “forget having one winner, let’s make a shiny RGB statue!” :innocent: …)

I did not see a “McDonalds” (what?) and I got a prompt to fight freighters/pirates/battleships and ignored them without any consequences to progress. Was that part of the expedition or just standard?

I saw this picture – and the nexus does not look like that to me, does it for you?? For me it’s only a blue circle floating on an invisible solid obstacle (I can stand on top of it).

The interactive elements in this expedition are not working perfectly for me, either.

Alas I definitely have to keep off multiplayer, otherwise the crashed swarmer is always already taken apart, and I cannot progress. And if (with networking off) I get an intact one, I still need several attempts with the gravitino gun to grab onto anything.

For the Purge(?) task, the ichor object to be cleaned-up is underground – but its interactive area is above ground. I only need to switch to the terrain manipulator because that triggers the mission, but I don’t actually need to dig, I can press E above ground :person_shrugging:

Randomly, Polo needs 90 gold sometimes? I always have gold lying around in my ship inventory, so don’t know what triggers this mission. Is that the second part of one of the other tasks? I was definitely not paying attention.

It is playable and seems completable. I’ve played more confusing games, so not complaining. At the same time, bugs like these make me not recommend NMS to others, who among my acquaintances would have the patience for this?

Given that I’ll probably be in the expedition for a while, I engaged with the first pirate fight, so I could claim the free freighter. I’ve ignored them all since - I tend to do some shopping in the space station until it’s over.

The mcdonalds is gone sadly, seems enough bases have been uploaded since to knock it out of the list, they’ll have to upload it again to get it back in circulation.

Opportunity for somebody to come in and build a burger king.

I might go colloquial and start a Supermacs franchise there
