The Abyss - Version 1.7 released

That would actually make sense. Trouble is, it’s not exactly easy to find deep water. Guess I’ll have to go warp around a bit more.

Yee. Nautilon will not summon to shallow water. Try driving it onto shore for a laugh.

I also have a question, has the water always ebbed at the shore? I was in water one second and on dry ground the next. I have not really paid attention before.

Well, how is deep water actually defined? I mean, I’ve been to some planets with oceans that could be considered “deep” if you take the caves into account. They were certainly deep enough for abyssal horrors to show up, though it wasn’t much deeper than maybe a hundred units or so…

Its funny when you beach it and it tumbles away back off into the ocean :joy:

The new underwater features will not be present in shallow water, meaning, you can wade in it. I have lots of lakes and ponds on my planet. Then I have a vast ocean. That is the difference. Some of the lakes are deep enough in certain areas. Basically, deep enough to submerge the Nautilon is deep enough but, lakes do not contain many of the new features.

Ok, then I’ve definitely been to planets with “deep water”. Still no deep dreams. Oh well.

The water for the story must be deep enough for submerged buildings, plural, as you visit several in the story.

On my old save it triggered the moment, I left the space station where my last restore point had been. I had no active missions (although I had a couple awaiting hand in.
Perhaps just going about your business doing regular missions might trigger something…
It might be icon related…

Unless those buildings are taller than anything we had in the game before, that’s definitely the case on the planet I’m at currently.

Taller? Interesting. They were the normal Abandoned Buildings for me. Do you have all the portal glyphs? I could dig up my portal address.

Little misunderstanding probably. I’ve not yet seen any of the buildings, what I meant was that unless they are taller than previous buildings, the ocean I’m currently at (as well as several before) is definitely deep enough to accommodate them. Still didn’t get the mission, though. I’ll continue to dawdle around for a bit, if I don’t get it until the end of the week I’ll have to Zendesk it.

Pro tip: no land around for miles and you need a quick trip in ya spaceship?

Terrain tool yourself a pillar to land on out of the water

I’m hearing you need to have completed some of the story path - have you done that already also?

@jedidia: After having read reports on the Steam forums regarding this issue, it appears that the new Dream of the Deep requires certain quests/story to be finished before being triggered. The exact requirement for this new content is unclear, although finishing the Artemis story appears to stand out.

I will link 3 Steam forum topics, hoping to be useful in any way:
Can’t access the new content?
Dream of the Deep quest bugged?
Starting Abyss questline

Also … Reddit:

By the way, “The First Traveller” is the fifth mission of the Artemis path, where you start working with -null-.

Note: Made several edits, adding more sources found on the interwebs.

Thanks, that explains a lot. Started a new save for NEXT, and didn’t progress very far in the main quest, what with all the other stuff to do.
I hope there’ll at least be some callbacks to the Artemis questline, otherwise I wouldn’t see the need for such a requirement.

I hope you will indeed get it all started once you get further into the story. I agree it should at least make sense, considering this appears to be a requirement. I am personally not far enough into the new content to able to tell, can only imagine …

I am kind of stuck having to build the pad for the Nautilon, being very picky where I place it. I know, I know … my own damn fault, but I don’t want to just plop it down somewhere. It needs a proper base to go with it

Happy to see we can finally get the Freighter Warp Reactors!

Make sure to check the Technology Merchant on board a Space Station

Yep, and if you are looking for the aquarium - it’s at the quicksilver shop for 800qs

Edit: There are also a couple new exosuit blueprints at the suit vendor

Yay, my freighter hyperdrive range went from 129.2 to 1945.5 after installing all three upgrades. They add 200 (C), 300 (B), and 800 (A) respectively, and likely have an adjacency bonus involved where the Hyperdrive stat of +29% likely plays a role as well. Hmmm, maybe I should have changed order, although still not even close to my Exotic’s Hyperdrive Range of 2570.8.

If you arrange them BAC -you squeeze the most out of them
