Sean Murray's Reveals MAY 2018 (PvP Disscussion)

   .

I guess that would be called ‘offline mode’? I actually doubt all game modes will have multiplayer.

If I was a game maker I’d have the game nuke the save files of a griefer and issue them a warning…on repeat incident they’d forever be locked from the shared online galaxy.

Well I mean it’s fine to visit bases and see people and such…there’s no reason to disallow PvE if someone doesn’t want PvP.

Having multiplayer like this, will basically force HG to have some sort of Anti Cheat system in place. I can not imagine multiplayer without enforcing some rules.

I’m hoping PVP it is an options thing like base sharing.
If you opt in and another player opts in then you can have dog fights and chase each other or play hide and seek or whatever.
So long as the chill gameplay remains for the vast majority of fans who simply like meeting up and exploring.
Exploring being the main thing.

No reason for rules if the option system is robust enough…allow people to be able to say no PvP and no multiplayer as different options and then separate base sharing option from the option to allow others to build or dismantle it.

I really wished Sean had spoken about this a bit more instead of just throwing the “if you’re that guy, you can prey on other people” at us. I am sure he realises that we love multiplayer, but is aware of the PvP concern as well …

I agree with with you and such options would certainly help. However, having multiplayer with synced gameplay, means there are likely ways to cheat and hack into the game, which needs to be prevented and ‘policed’.

Could be something simple like a player elects to attack your freighter and you can choose to go out and fight or just ignore him, knowing your freighter will rebuild next warp.
Other than PVP, I kinda hope to see other players ships as many people have exotics and they are beautiful to watch but you hardly get a chance to watch them.

Time to stock up on ‘Defence Chits’?

I’ll say that in that aspect playing on PS4/XB1 should help…no idea how or if they can go around properly policing that on PC with mods and hacks.

I am a PC player, so I am aware this should be a concern to a development team.

Perhaps PVP it will be a decision made in joining guilds. Pirates VS Merchants VS Explorers etc etc.
You join a particular guild and others are simply on the opposing team…

Considering PC would be Steam, I can imagine VAC to be enabled if needed, which is currently not the case. Not too concerned though, as I am sure HG knows what they are getting themselves into. Just wish Sean revealed a bit more on this.

I really wish they they just fix the bug with visited bases not awarding the decorations they should so I could just get the hell out of civilized galaxies forever.

I have enjoyed NMS from day one. I think, for me, PVP could be the end of that.

PVP attracts a particularly unpleasant community.

I would rather not share my game world with the kind of people who are intent on destroying me, and the things I’ve built.

Anyone here ever played “Ark: Survival Evolved”?

The reason why I bring it up is because maybe, just maybe, HG will have multiplayer like that to a degree.

I played(kinda still do) it on ps4. You can go on “official” servers(it can be brutal), or buy a server to have your own exclusive one like I did. only those that you allow on your game server will be allowed on it and you can kick people off your server if they aren’t playing by your server rules. You can also set server rules such as “no PvP damage to players” and many MANY more parameters to the game.

If you don’t know what I am talking about, look into Ark and maybe watch a video of the server setup process. Maybe that’ll rest up your worried hearts about the update.

If this type of feature isn’t added, maybe HG will add it later on if requested by their fan base?

I think the majority of players arent that keen on having a damaging sort of PVP but some want a bit of scuffle on the side.
If HG have listened to the greater community I’m quite comfident that they will set it up to disallow griefing but invites more variety of gameplay for those that want it.
Maybe all PVP will occur on the other side of a portal. If you don’t go there, nothing ever happens.
There’s a lot of ways they can avoid upsetting cruisey players not into PVP.

I’m sure everyone will be thrilled to find out that if they want to play in peace they’d have to pay for a private server…that’s going to go extremely well with everyone.
