Regarding first distress beacon

With Waypoint out, i started a new save.
But knowing what i know now, i wonder what if don’t interact with the Atlas distress beacon… Can i still be able to find hermetic seal to take off?
As anyone ever tried?

Have never tried. I do know you can find Vy’Keen daggers until the base building storyline has you grab 2 for your weapons tech. Once begun, you can only get them in a certain place…I can’t remember where now…anyway, there may be something similar with heremetic seals.
Repair your scanner and get looking for waypoints

iirc, a hermetic seal is in one of the two long buildings around 300 units away from your crashed ship. I may be wrong about if it is the same for everyone, though.

Good luck!

I just tried. In normal mode I ignored the distress beacon and found the building 830u to the north of the ship (straight off the tail of the ship in this case). I doubt that the directions is the same each time but you need to start somewhere. I could not see the buildings on the visor, even when they were directly in front of me so you have to look. Don’t forget the camera mode makes a good drone for seeing what is around you. Next I went to space, did the pulsing they asked for, visited the station and got a signal to some damaged machinery which held the plans for a base computer and terrain manipulator. That is where I am now.

I started a new permadeth mode with everything turned up to hard.
Has been quite difficult with much of my time taken up fixing tech as much as anything else.
Got easier once I got the Command Ship but its a seriously tricky version of NMS.

I am playing a new game without tutorials, I started with the hermetic seal blueprint already known.
I first thought I wouldn’t be getting any base computer missions, ergo no terminals, but that mission popped up in my log after putting down my first base computer. A pretty long while, to be honest.

camera mod is a good trick!

ok i’ll try this new save staying away from Atlas interactions.

Thanks all for your insight on this matter.

I’ll be cautious during scientist quest to free him from convergence. And regarding Artemis, i don’t want to feel remorse for this new save.

I meant to mention that in my previous post
but got distracted.
In a fresh Permadeath there is no fetch quest to get the parts.
The scarce resource setting really limits your hunting about while exposed.
Once you get moving you have to really gauge where & why you land due to fuel consumption.
I’m finding the damaged tech thing the trickiest to get used to. You need to cart about extra resources all the time just in case something breaks because the harvest time is long and the exposure will kill you.
The Command Ship comes with some known tech-rooms & storage which softens the grind once you have it.

I ignored the Atlas stuff & kept going until the Pirate mission starts & you chug off in search of a pirate system.
The 4 pirates at the derelict at the begining of that mission nearly killed me. I ran out of ‘yellow’ & my Photon Cannon broke so I ended up just running for it with all the alarms going off. Was a close thing.
Now I’ve got some tech, some more space & second ship, I think ‘smuggler’ will be my game plan for this one.
