The Roomie and I were doing some brainstorming and came across a potentially interesting connection. He noticed that on project-wt.com the only labels are islands. This made me say almost as a joke, “No man is an iland”. Then I googled that poem from John Donne and found it to be fascinating. Don’t know if there’s anything deeper, but seems like there could be a connection. Also think about the last line of the poem. What are they making us take pictures of? If only it were Meditation XVI, I’d be convinced there’s a connection:
No man is an Iland, intire of itselfe; every man
is a peece of the Continent, a part of the maine;
if a Clod bee washed away by the Sea, Europe
is the lesse, as well as if a Promontorie were, as
well as if a Manor of thy friends or of thine
owne were; any mans death diminishes me,
because I am involved in Mankinde;
And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.
