Patient Intervention Thread - Alexander

You find it a stretch? How do you think I feel?

It’s like someone’s put my brain in a blender.

Hold your horses, talking to yoursef is by no means an indication of schizophrenia. There’s plenty of people that talk to themselves because it helps them focus their trains of thought. Which I think would be rather important when you’re already having trouble keeping it together.

@DevilinPixy
I think it is because much of the ARG is code centred and now they are expecting us to think sideways a bit. I’m not sure how we were meant to think of a star being visible in a storm but I think I see what they re doing. They are making the puzzles more inclusive of other talents, not just raw computing.

Good, I have no raw computing skills.

Well, it doesn’t. It’s a red giant for sure, but it does not look red to the human eye. Pretty much all stars are bright enough to just appear white to us.
So yeah, that was quite a leap… Reminds of some old lucas arts puzzles…

I agree. This seemed like a word puzzle, not a numbers puzzle. More like a riddle?

I think he said the clouds parted, that’s how he saw it in the storm.

@jedidia Betelgeuse is visibly red.

"Betelgeuse and its red coloration have been noted since antiquity; the classical astronomer Ptolemy described its color as ὑπόκιρρος "

Yes, but you solved the earlier one.
Thinking sideways & old fashioned sleuthing.

There was a gap in the clouds:

Alexander :
I went outside with the lamp and I froze.
Alexander :
The first was so high. And the clouds opened up, just for a bit. And I saw a red shining dot in the sky.

More like grinding, but thanks!

Yeah no…I don’t really buy into that…even on the most clear of night skies I have never in my life looked at the sky and thought any star “looked red”.

Well do not know if from where I am from (Dominican Republic) we can see it different of something, but I can assure you that when the night is clear and Orion is visible, Betelgeuse looks very red to me. I was fan of using Goolge Sky Map to look for constallations at night, and that was de way it looked to me every time.

Everyone focused on the red dot and completely missed ‘shining’ which is a direct easy arrow to it being a star.
Seems every word must be analysed.

When in rural locations away from city lights the stars and visible planets are coloured slightly. Most noteably Mars.

The clouds opening was a hint in retrospect but there’s still rain pouring down…I wouldn’t have thought you’d see a star, much less saw a star and thought it looked red to be honest.

I just thought schizophrenia because Gollum popped into my head and he talks to himself a ton… even though I know he’s not actually schizophrenic, at least explicitly. I’m tired, last night I spent a ton of time guessing words and researching, so I thought of talking to himself to Gollum to schizophrenia because people usually think that… oh well. Well done Polyphemus, btw!

Well all I can say is well done everybody.
I’m not sure about everybody else but I battered away on my keypad fo litterally hours trying to solve those last 2. Feel pretty dumb now.
From now on, every single word gets scrutinized.

I wonder if this thing is something that happened to something to someone at A&S…not the farm burning but the whole saw a red star through the clouds in the middle of a storm at night…someone from A&S might be reading these comments and thinking “But that’s something that totally CAN happen!! I SAW it happen!!”

I know Betelgeuse can be easily found once you spot Orion, and yes it looks orange/reddish. But watching a fire, with flames going up high, you get a lot of sparks coming off as well. Sure enough the sky opened up, but why of all things would you notice a tiny little star during such a traumatic event …

Less blender, more brain please … Thanks for saving us there @Polyphemus :heavy_heart_exclamation:

Oh well, looks like my color perception isn’t the best…
