No way to build a second room in first base?

Hello! I am new here. I had to start a new game after the NEXT update and I am stuck in the Planetary Base Construction mission.

I’ve constructed a circular room, put a construction terminal in it, and hired a nice Gek. Next I need to build a science terminal and hire a scientist. Here’s what I’m assuming is the “bug.”

The only way I am capable of doing this is by building an entirely separate round room with a door. I have no option of building any corridors or other types of rooms. It seems I’m missing blueprints or something. In my pre-NEXT save, I never had any issues adding corridors and rooms to my base.

I’ve spent 3-4 hours exploring the menus and trying to solve the issue on my own including a lot of research and haven’t seen anyone else having this issue. I’m hopeful one of you may help me, and that my new game isn’t just bugged out and I won’t be able to explore the base building aspect of this game.

Thank you!

That has always been this way since the foundation update when they were introduced nearly two years ago…the game only allows one specialist terminal per round room…no idea exactly why that is limited this way but it very much seems intentional on the part of Hello Games.

But what happened to corridors? How are people building these beautiful and intricate bases with several rooms and stories?

Using the new building parts unlocked by the blueprint analyzer.

To clarify, you are telling me I have to use the blueprint analyzer to create blueprints for corridors? I don’t remember that being the case in my previous pre-NEXT save file.

Corridors are still there…I had all the building parts I had unlocked pre-next already unlocked in my save because I carried it over into NEXT but I do believe that to unlock them in a new save you do actually need the blueprint analyzer, yes. And no…the blueprint analyzer wasn’t a thing before but you know…things change.

Thanks for the information. How do I get the blueprints for corridors from the blueprint analyzer? I see several options including chairs but nothing structural in my blueprint analyzer.

Follow the quests the game gave you…the base computer terminal quests will give you the blueprint analyzer I believe.

I’m sorry if I was unclear. I already have the blueprint analyzer. I do not see anything about corridors when I look at it.

The way the blueprint analyzer works is it only lets you see a few parts from each type and unlocks more to buy as you buy the ones it has on offer at present.

Thank you. I’m definitely annoyed that I have to purchase a bunch of chairs before I can purchase a hallway or rooms to even put them in… What were they thinking?

Look for Salvaged/ Tech Modules. You have to dig them up. Search the area with your analyzer/binoculars. Most blue prints are 1 to 3 modules. Some are either 5 or 10 modules in the Blueprint Analyzer

While the blueprint analyzer shows one continuous list of options, they do seem to be sub-grouped. For example, when you buy a decal blueprint it unlocks more decals. I believe if you continue to buy structural blueprints, like walls and foundations, you will unlock what you are looking for faster.

@DR27: I have removed the bug part from the title as this is intended behaviour with the NEXT update. I have also changed the category to ‘Help A Fellow Traveler’. I understand you were not sure if bug or not, no problem. I think the replies have helped you. Welcome to the forum

Hello & welcome @DR27.
You probably have your answer already but I’ll add my 2 cents, since I’ve only recently completed the new NEXT save base missions.

Once you have your blue print analyser you can acquire new blueprints from ‘salvaged technology’ modules you find burried about the landscape.
You can scroll through the selection slightly. Most are locked but as you get one, others appear giving you a little bit of selection.

I found my first base ended up quite messy as it was mostly a few rooms with the required bits for the base missions, just so I could blast through them. I elected to fix it up nicely at some other time…but haven’t

When digging up tech, send ‘salvaged tech’ to another inventory (ie freighter) as the game seems to drop back to giving nanites if you already have several 'salvaged tech’s in you suit. Not sure about this as most stuff in NMS is seeded but upon trying this, it seems to be true.
EDIT: Nanites no longer come from buried yech modules.

When you get to the exocraft missions make sure you manually save before you start and check your progress is getting recorded as you progress as this is a bit buggy. I reloaded this 3 or 4 times before I got it.

When you get to the ‘base computer’ archive missions, its possible the game will glitch and send you to your freighter. Reloading may fix this or simply leaving your freighter in a system with no base computers works too.

Anyway, if you get stuck feel free to ask.
We’re all nice here and NMS NEXT has a ton of hurdles to fumble over.

This has been patched…you can no longer get nanites from the salvaged tech capsules you dig up.

Ok. My bad. My console hasn’t been updated since before the growing times were changed so I’m still getting nanites & tech plus my crops are on the old timer.

I feel I should add this, if you just want to save time and get Yr specialist missions rolling instead of trying to get the corridor from analyser or a ladder etc.

You can have more than one specialist per room with the new building parts. Just place down a large floor tile for each specialist you want, you don’t even need to build walls. The downside is they don’t really line up with the new base peices too much except maybe the farmer, but you start with those peices known immediately so you can get building specialist terminals without wasting 300 pure ferrite on an old round restrictive building versus forty carbon per floor tile per specialist.
