NMS Worlds - Lore Discussion (spoilers)

Yes, it only takes a short while for the implant to settle. You will now find that Elon Musk looks more or less like a human being - and you won’t remember him ever looking any different.

I sure hope you put that one back into the sea! Your living frigates might take issue if you don’t! :grimacing:

They even chucked me a few nanites for giving them a lift home.

He tried it once before but we all still remembered what he looked like before that trip to Turkey.

In the Ruins Expedition, one of the Gek from the Galactic Paleology Society has this to say about the interests of their current dig site and what they would like you to find and build.

It is a question of who we are, friend! We seek bones of the ancient Gek ancestor, before the First Spawn.

Here is my lore accurate Gek Ancestor. Everyone else’s is wrong

While there wasn’t any juicy lore with Expedition Relics, a lot of it was untranslated depending on how many words you collected or if you kept the auto translators installed. I decided might as well post the full translated text for those who are interested.

The Dig : I

The Galactic Paleology Society agent catches my eye as they dust themselves off.

Ah! You are new worker, yes? Very good! Many of you coming here. So, friend, do you have anything for us?

Show collected artifact

The alien smiles approvingly. They gently push the artifact back toward me. It is mine to keep.

The Dig: II

The paleontologist’s breath condenses into a frozen greeting. They are evidently excited to see me.

Welcome, new worker friend! At this site, we research creatures with two legs.
Gratitude for any help friend can offer. Construct bones, create complete fossil. Teach us how ancient creatures walk!

The paleontologist shows me a sketch of a bipedal creature. The drawing is imaginatively rendered, with loving attention to detail. The request is clear: make this creature real by reconstructing its fossil.

Begin search

Excellent! We await your best two legs fossil!

The Dig: III

I overhear the paleontologist conversing with a remote colleague. They seem to be discussing some of their findings, their tone puzzled.

…do not understand what has become of these ancient creatures. The fauna here has no evidence of four legs.

The alien turns their attention to me, indicating a diagram on their datapad. A quadrupedal beast is displayed. They tap at the four limbs, shaking their head and frowning.
%NAME% seems to want me to find evidence of this four-legged creature - or one of its descendants.

It is very strange, friend. The bones we have found are so different from the creatures today. The ancestor has four legs. Fauna now has none! Can you help us learn more?

Offer to assist

Thank you, friend! Your work has already been excellent! Please scan the fauna of this world. Find us our four legs!

The Dig: IV

The paleontologist’s attention is held by an image of a scaly creature on their datapad. They jab excitedly at the screen, and then turn their attention towards me.

Oh, friend. How I wish to see a complete fossil. I love simple water creatures like this. Just look at it! You would be best friend if you can find these bones.

%NAME% seems to want me to recruit me for their project - and this reptilian creature appears to be their aim.

Offer assistance

There is no water here now, but I believe this world was rich with water creatures in the past! Please, friend, look for bones! Show supervisor I am not idiot!

The Dig: V

Gesturing at their data-pad, the paleontologist twists together a trio of holographic helixes and starts a sequencing algorithm.

Other site friends have been in contact. Said very good things about you. Excellent skills! At this site, we seek the most important fossil. You are ready for this test!

%NAME% babbles excitedly, attempting to make themselves clear. Waving their datapad, they gesture at me, at themselves, and at the skies around us.

Offer to help

It is a question of who we are, friend! We seek bones of the ancient Gek ancestor, before the First Spawn.

Thanks to @Dragonsire whose posted strings/icons I pulled this from <3

Thanks for posting this.
In my hurry, (due to being a bit pressed for time), I jumped through much of the text & wasn’t able to absorb much.

Some new lore regarding the guardians would have been nice. Hopefully HG will fill in some of that later on.
