I usually find a space station where I can buy certain resources in significant quantities while exploring. Much less grindy…
Definitely grindy now. It seems only the crystal formations yield platinum and at a less than 50% rate and even then only yield 10 or less.
I think you can refine Platinum from Gold and Silver (unless they nerfed that in the new version).
… and a reason I long ago dropped my plans to do an NMS User Guide. Too many changes too often. Even screen clips don’t stay current very long.
The bad and good rolled into what is.
Well, I got me a sentinel ship, a backpack, and a multitool. Still trying to figure out what all the number puzzles are for (The fourth: 1010110, and all that).
Just realized the sentinel ships can be brought to a dead stop, turned on a dime (well almost) and hover with no idling forward. Very cool.
Looking at the tech inventory of the sentinel ships, it seems they need special fuel. It looks like it’s more restrictive to operate one - you need to keep returning to corrupted planets for supplies.
Exploit the iteration.
1x Ferrite Dust + 1x Oxygen + 250x Chromatic Metal = 10 Platinum
1x Kelp Sac + 1x Condensed Carbon + 1x Frost Crystal = 10 Oxygen

I’m not crazy then. I was sure those part were not there before
How did you get the lead in quest to all of this? I went to the Anomaly thinking someone there would have the starting quest and found a mission which gave a Dreadnought token as a reward. Interestingly, as part of the chain, I did not get an item for the camp
Scrapped a few C class Interceptors and tried reusing some of the tech.
Also can’t have more than one Sentinel Canon on the Interceptor.
On the new ship, I’ve added most of the engine components without a problem but don’t know yet if regular upgrades will work on them.
ooh, loving this update. these sentinels are vicious and relentless, but not truly annoying like SOME planets are (someone please tell me why they put the 90 degree angle mountains and psychotic sentinels on the same planet during an EXPEDITION) im also a lore nut and i was gonna seize my day off to catch up on some lost sleep but it looks like i’ll be hunting for a cool gun instead
I didn’t get one. I just went looking for corrupted worlds. Once I found one, I did some exploring.
Further details follow:
Systems with corrupted worlds are now marked in the Galactic Map as “dissonant”:
When you get to the corrupted system, the corrupted planet(s) are marked “corrupted sentinels”
At some point during your exploration of a corrupted planet (I think after defeating a particular sentinel, but I’m not sure), an Echo Locator will appear in your inventory:
If you use the Echo Locator on the planet’s surface, it will point out the nearest Harmonic Camp.
I think everthing else is pretty much self-explanatory.
I have to agree. For me, it hits just the right note of weirdness and challenge. It’s strange enough to be intriguing, but not so obscure as to be incomprehensible. It’s difficult enough to be challenging, but not so hard as to be frustrating. It’s very good science fiction. Nice.
I just looked for the new planet type with corrupted sentinels. Also, on the Galaxy Map, systems will be described as Dissonent but, you do need to have the appropriate scanners installed on your ship?
I am also wondering if the main story line needs to be complete. I am working on my Steam Deck file which is not yet finished with the Atlas Path. I cannot find any Dissonent systems.
scrapping the interceptors is stupid profitable, even the b class ones with broken slots still scrap for over 50 million, and it’s so ridiculously easy to fix their slots too
Nope. I’m using my save from the Prisms quest. I haven’t bothered with any of the main story tasks.
The Mystery of Harmonic Scrap
Scattered about corrupted worlds, you can find a thing called “Harmonic Scrap”. It shows up on your compass bar and in your scanner with this icon:
This is how your scanner reports it:
When you find it, it looks like this:
You can interact with Harmonic Scrap. Sometimes it gives you goodies, but it always gives you messages.
If you feed it Atlantideum, it responds with cryptic clues like these:
The thing is, the binary numbers form a series - The first:1010110, the second: 1001111, and so on. If you search the planet, you can find all of them. Presumably HG wouldn’t have included such an obvious series unless it meant something, or had some purpose - but so far I haven’t a clue what it is.
They do indeed spell something. We should catalogue these.
So far we have V O
