I have crossed over.
Something I’m curious about and a little afraid to even try.
With the game on two different platforms in the past, you could use your two separate profiles to have two bases appear on a planet that you’ve built, for others to see.
I believe this is still the case, so what would happen if a base I’ve uploaded via PSN, is then uploaded via a PC session of the save state.
Does it make two identical bases in the same spot under two different usernames and platforms?
Or is there some cleverness going on where, knowing on their end which profiles are now linked, they will just choose one or the other to display to other players in these instances?
Has anyone come across any stories or issues with stuff like this yet?
I have been wanting to try this, once I finally got into the beta for the NMS Cloud. However, with me only having Steam accounts, I had to do some trickery to even be able to get both my Steam accounts linked to begin with. I will not share how I did this, but I can tell you it failed now that the NMS Cloud enabled for me.
For me it is not sharing my save slots from one Steam account with the other Steam account. It makes sense, but it was worth a shot to see what would happen. Because of this, I am however unable to test such cases as you mention above. I can only make assumptions. I would guess it will stick with the initial creator/platform and not result in a duplicate. Some new fields in the save data strengthens this believe, but I am unable to verify and/or see what is actually happening.
I think someone needs to send a relief Nintendo Switch to Dev so they can mess with cross play.
Or a playstation/Xbox, but switch would be cheaper packaging/shipping
I suppose you could get it on Xbox live for windows or GOG and it might work that way PC>PC.
Or maybe Hello Games should send some nice kit to a hard working community mod/member
When I got my PS5 last year and regained access to my console NMS save, I had a few meet ups with myself to trade some items my PC save had saved up the last 3-4 years that weren’t around in the console saves day.
I also visited some of my favourite places from my PC adventures in shiny new console vision.
This has led me to have some places where creatures have been discovered and named by both of my saves/usernames.
These would display accurately but this seems to have changed with cross play.
I was piggybacking my PC self to a distant system by joining my PS5 play sessions group, I decided to name one thing each by each of my usernames/saves. They displayed as expected whilst the session was going on both ends.
However now, if I visit with my PS5 profile on my ps5 save, it shows that all discoveries were made by ps5 profile, and likewise if I visit via steam with PC save, it shows all made via steam profile.
I’m guessing there is a new identifier for my save that then has two ID’s tied to it across all saves regardless of platform, and its that new ID that registers with a discovery upload now?
I’m curious, if someone else visits, which username will they see? Just one or a mix of both?
Dear Community,
For a 454 hrs save on my Nintendo Switch were I cannot have access anymore due to error if I want to load my save. I bought NMS yesterday on GOG.COM and GOG and Hello Games gave me another Hello Games-ID . So I cannot download the saves within my Hello Games-ID of my Switch. Could I connect the GOG cross-saves with my other Hello Games-ID that I use on my Nintendo Switch?
I’d like to have access again after 21 December 2024 when I walked passed a base with alot of sac venom and other graphical overload to the graphics on my Nintendo Switch. It is frustrating that so many achievements and played till the final Autophage storylines, They Who Returned. And then the save is gone after achieving an amazing living ship. Many thanks in advance for your advises.
Go to https://www.nomanssky.com/
Click on Menu>Cross Saves and link your accounts.
However, cross save is still in Beta and they have limited access right now. You might be allowed to link them or you may have to wait
I hope it works for you and welcome to the forum!
You will be able to link all your accounts here, you should then get a new option to apply to cross save beta when you boot up your game in GOG on the main menu.
It will then let you know if you are in or have to wait.
It will most likely say you have to wait, as its still being opened up in rounds but I havent seen anyone have to wait more than a few weeks at the most.
How bad that is depends on your patience levels really Might be a good excuse to take a vacation in the new Abandoned Mode
Once you have your accounts linked on NMS website you should be able to upload your save from the games main menu on nintendo switch without having to load up the save thats failing to load.
This will be possible once accepted into the Cross Save Beta.
Every few weeks they let a new batch of users in so sign up asap and eventually you will have access.
Linking your accounts on NMS will also give you access to any twitch drops you may have gotten during your time on nintendo switch.
Bringing your switch save over to your GOG profile will also grant access to all purchased QS items from your switch save to all current and future GOG saves.
Oh and welcome to the community, @Olofvdoorn . I hope you get back to your switch-iteration soon and get to enjoy the new shiny on GOG <3
Thanks all for the helpful replies. The problem is this. I tried this on the cross-save page and the NMS website is kind to warn if I do Reconnect with the GOG Hello Games - ID my other Hello Games - ID could be erased. That means that all saved files in that Hello Games are deleted then.
You could double check your Nintendo file is saved on your Switch. I think what they are saying is that whatever is uploaded to HGs cloud will be erased and replaced.
All of your accounts will come under one single HG ID account.
Maybe someone else can explain this better @toddumptious help!
It has been too long since I linked mine and I cannot remember but I seem to remember getting the same kind of message but I cannot remember what I did.
This message would only make sense if you had;
already signed up for beta with your nintendo switch and already used cross save to upload your save.
If you haven’t done this already, then there is nothign to worry about.
Once both accounts are connected, load up your switch game, and when you get the message to say you are now in the beta (it might take a while if not already applied/accepted in the past) you should see an option to manage/upload cross saves
Your switch save that you are trying to access, will still be stored locally on your switch, nothing can delete this unless you choose to so that message should not be worries about, once you boot up No mans Sky on Switch, choose this save as one of the 5 allowed saves to upload to the nms cloud. Then you can downloaded it from the same menu, on the GOG version of the game.
again, don’t worry about this warning message, it cant delete your local save remotely.
The only circumstance that message should be heeded is that you already accepted cross save beta on your switch, uploaded your save before it became unloadable, and then deleted the local file version of it
Thanks @toddumptious
I tried Zendesk and a person I follow on Youtube and have is Discord.
I have synced 5 saves. And 1 of them is the corrupted save.
Hoping earlier this year Switch 2 released very fast and then try to get in the save with Switch 2. I guess S2 could come this September.
Now I’m enjoying my new living ship the Wraith.
And the new normal save on GOG.
Switch 2 announcement is April 2. So maybe we will get firm info on a release date
Fixed Todd’s name. If you use an @ then you can choose a member name. Easier than trying to spell some of the names
Any time frame for when this will be out of beta? I just Found out My Pc can play this and i was wanting to get my switch save on my pc but the Beta is keeping me out.
Welcome to the forum @radagastb6
I don’t think a date has been given but they are allowing more players in so if you sign up for it, you will get in sooner or later.
