Hope HG or SM respond
Lets all hope they donāt go down the same path as what Bethesda did with Fallout 76, if you want to play the game you have to be online to do so, if not, you will not be able to play the game, NMS already had Multiplayer so whatās the difference between that and online I canāt see it, arenāt they both the same thing. It seems that all the talk on here is about the online feature and nothing else, what about those of us who donāt play online do we just miss out, it looks like it. I personally donāt have any interest in the online feature whats so ever, I know that from what I have been reading everyone else here seems overjoyed with the fact itās getting it. I suppose we canāt win them all. I will see what the take on it is when the update comes out.
I doubt they will change that. It has been playable in offline mode since the start. I understand your concern. I have only cellular internet so if the game suddenly required a broadband connection I would be in trouble. Most likely, that would only be needed for the online features and access to the Discovery Services.
As for the majority here, they actually prefer offline mode as well. Some of us are excited for MP. Those who are not, are simply silent at the moment In a holding pattern I suppose.
Here is a quote from the news release below
āAn expanded Online experienceā
So to me, that says they have simply expanded what is already there, not replaced anything.
SM wants to make sure we have read everything
And HG is blowing us a kissā¦back at ya HG
Yes, I havenāt much use for online play either mainly due to personal reasons. I have a vision issue that keeps me from any sort of competetive play otherwise Iād probably be all over it. Hopefully there will be an online element that I can play with. But anyway I still get fun out of the game and iām sure they wonāt leave us folks, who would rather play mostly alone, out in the cold. Iām personally hoping for more depth in gameplay, purpose and perhaps a bit of make-our-own-quest type of thing so player created content doesnāt only consist of bases. It may be a long shot to hope to make our own missions but Iām counting on a boost in explorative gameplay.
I am personally not a fan of multiplayer, nor do I own a VR headset. Yet NMS deserves improvements to the multiplayer experience and the inclusion of VR. I am happy for those who will (be able to) enjoy this.
These two parts of the update will likely still result in some changes/improvements to my own single player (offline) experience. We will have to wait and see to what extend this will be. And hey, who knows, they might even entice me to give it a try.
An expanded Online experience will bring a radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together.
So far, multiplayer has been a choice, albeit the default setting, it can be disabled. I assume this will not change, but likely made more interesting to give a try. I understand the concern for āonlineā becoming a requirement as well, but I strongly doubt this will happen. Sure enough you may miss out on some features (Discovery Services), but you should still be able to enjoy the experience. Basically anything that involves āother playersā has to be done online, there is just no way around it. I just canāt imagine them making the game unplayable offline.
All-in-all I am still excited for the update, as I expect it to include a lot of new content and improvements. Not to mention the unknown 3rd part of the update. I am sure those without VR and/or intention to join MP, will still profit. I see no reason why HG would totally ignore those who prefer to play on their own, as they are many. Maybe not the focus this time, but surely not forgotten.
I play solo, as was the gameās original focus. I expect to be able to continue solo play. Hello Games has been careful not to force play style. They are all about personal choice. No fears, traveler.
I would be very happy, though, if they made the default to be co-op play OFF or else made it a separate mode. The latter would prevent players from switching from solo to co-op for a session/save though.
[Added]
I have a new goal for now till I can play Beyond: Tag my favorite photos with āFAV.ā I dinner know why this had not picked to me, but it will make sharing photos much easier when I finally get around to it.
I find that I deal with the screenshots folder sometimes days after a session. Worse, I canāt possibly remember all the shots that I liked best. There are too many. So, FAV tag.
At the end of atlas rises I was so unimpressed by the prospect of multiplayer I fled to the outer fade. I had one or two less than stellar mp experiences with randoms, but planned mp games were pretty good fun. As long as we have the proper tools to kick out the trolls Iām fine with it. Iād actually really like crossplay so i can visit and build a base or two in the ETARC hub
The responses are golden.
what is the device on the right top?
Not sure but there is something interesting on the screen, bottom left.
Atmos may be related to Dolby soundā¦not sure. But what is on the screen?
need to post to reddit, discord? get them working on it? lol
Get the whole community involved!!!
Looks like an Atomos Shogun, a 4K video monitor and SSD recorder (UHD).
I wouldnāt say it has any specific relation to Dolby sound.
I bet it contains some great visuals we would love to see
Hi all! Long time no seeā¦
Got a W/are (@Warecloud) notification on twitter, addinā someone. Could it be related to beyond news??
See the video breakdown thread. I think @DevilinPixy and I have nailed it. This is a Sentinel Hubā¦perhapsā¦maybe we take it over during a Story Line play through. Lore speaks of their catography technologyā¦I am super excited!
Perhaps we will encounter a new type of sentinel
Something happened with W/ARE?
What do you mean with a notification of āadding someoneā?
I am following both Twitter accounts from W/ARE, but have not received any notification. I can not see any new activity either, no new follows or anything in over a year. They do not appear to utilise ālistsā either.
Last time I checked, their website was down as well. Documents on their Dropbox and alike still exist.
You got me curious about that notification though. Maybe screenshot it, unless it contains info you do not wish to share of course.
