Music Tastes among ETARCers?

Who would have thought Dethklok could have predicted Taylor Swift fans? They’ve got the same loyal commitment as Dethklok fans and the same economic sway. They tend to demolish small towns in european cities… The comparisons are endless. I’m not familiar enough with her to know if she has a cocaine clown or not.

I know it’s No man sky’s birthday today.

But my favourite new artists new album was born today.

This very day.

Welcome to the world, nothing. <3 (he even snuck a few clowncore compositions in there  )

Now I have two things to celebrate every Aug 9th :beers:

NPR had an interesting on-air story about Louis Cole’s new album:
With a new orchestral album, Louis Cole pulls magic out of the air

Oooh thanks, a paragraph in and already a juicy read. I was very envious when I heard about these new Choral arrangements for upcoming run of gigs. At first glance I thought it was orchestral gigs for the new album but something seperate entirely. I’d heard he also cancelled gigs in the summer due to a problem with his nervous system so wasn’t sure they were even going ahead.

Can’t wait to read/listen to the full interview and hopefully get to hear or see these gigs soon <3

“I hired a married couple to play the organ because some of the chords need four hands”

Here is some 4 hand piano work. Starts about a minute and a half in.

I believe that’s the public piano outside the Eurostar terminal at St Pancras station. If so, I’ve tried to play a couple of chords on it. Didn’t sound like that, though.

Ah just a police escort this time, last time I watched Brendan Kavanagh, China got involved…

Came across this album on one of my rather regular 2nd hand shop runs. In a pretty good state as well for a 1968 release.

Nice to see David Lynch out and about again :stuck_out_tongue:

I still have not listened to a single one of their records, not even sure if I’ve heard one in passing but the film is supposed to be incredible and I’m going to see it later this week

This vid is my first exposure to the band and their chemistry has me fully convinced they’re good lads <3

Okay I watched a trailer and I’m excited now

I knew only of their politics and the art and murals they’d done over the years that went over the UK governments head (or well didn’t, but they couldn’t have the message ringing out while Brexit was currently happening/getting done’d) but had still yet to listen to any of their music. I dunno if I even will because I like to chill and relax with music and its quite energetic and carries our generational trauma, but I cannot wait to see this film now!

Oooh cool, I signed up for 65labs during the Replicr sessions. Replicr was considered to be a guided map through the wilderness, and if you wanted the wilderness you had to sign up to 65labs.

I parsed through quickly and saw no mention of the wilderness of replicatr sessions making it to streaming services, which is understandable I guess, I doubt 20 minute tracks of dispariging drones and noise are palatable to streaming platforms. (there is mention of getting the patreon archives out somehow, so I’m guessing the replicr full sessions will be included with that)

Happy to hear they’re going to try another stab at a traditional “album”.

Thanks for sharing the news <3

Also I remember around the release of NMS, 65days were doing these AI drone swarm gigs where every night it would generate different music that sounds like the band. They did a short run of gigs with it, usually at sort of tech conventions and festivals.

I see they have an endless live stream now called Wreckage Systems and I’m wondering if this is the same thing or an evolved version or an offshoot?

My fellow citizen scientists, if you’re a metalhead like me, there’s the opportunity to participate in some science. Elizabeth aka “the charismatic voice” wants to put 6 big names through full vocal science studies. The kind where they put tiny cameras down peoples throats and all sorts of other measurement equipment all over their body to figure out what actually happens. You know… science!

I nominate Devin Townsend. I haven’t watched the video yet because I’m making food but that is my choice for throat camera science.

Edit:

Speak of the devil (I’d gone searching for my favourite vocal coaches react to Devin compilation)

Edit-ier:

Okay that videos mode of transportation is surprisingly on brand for our forums.

He’d be an interesting one for sure. This study is focused on screaming specifically, though. Not that Devy couldn’t do that, but they’re mostly going with screaming heavyweights. All volunteers, by the way.

So she is going thru with the study after the Gojira performance. This will be fun! Hope we get to see the footage.
