Music Tastes among ETARCers?

New silliness from this octopod

Earlier this morning, while using a Text to Music Generator for the first time, I had accumulated almost 40 songs in less than an hour by writing a prompt into a box. I cant believe its real and is way faster than anything i could do in FL Studio.
Here is a playlist of statics from the Void.

Good music for Worlds Part 1 when you’re sea-searchin’

“God knows how much this world has promised me”

Slow down there Null :joy:

Edit:

Oh, it’s “this town”. I haven’t actually listened to this song in a long time it just played back in my head while swimming oceans

I’m not sure why that first video is so mesmerizing, but for some reason I had to watch it until the end.

The only answers I could come up with were those jeans or whatever they used to make it look like technicolour on film, those colours are gorgeous :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Given the connection between Roger Dean and the “Worlds” design, and Sean Murray’s stated “Starship Troopers” inspiration, I just had to include this one:

Yes, “Starship Trooper”, with album cover design by Roger Dean.

Inspired by @toddumptious recreation of FF music on Byte Beat, I started thinking of what song I might want to try my hand at. Only 1 group came to my mind. They introduced me to noise as music and their work still holds its own today. However, I think it is more than I can realistically expect of myself to recreate this

The TV Tech in my old college used to play keys in a Depeche Mode cover band. They were all from Dublin so they were called Dubpeche Mode '^ _ ^

(edit: Footage of them actually exists that isn’t bad phone recording in small club quality ;0; It is too bright a day for the musics tone though. I realise it is raining but this is a nice sunny day in what I assume is scotland)

My advice for bytebeat when choosing music is try and avoid anything with triplets, 3 time is possible but anything that looks to use 1.5 of a beat and it gets tricky, the only work around I found was using extra bytebeat machines to play just one note each of the other two notes in the triplet, and mess around with the waveform attack and fine tune with the advanced editor. But it still comes out quite syncopated so you dont really get that swing.

Depeche mode are definitely a good choice as their melodies are quite powerful and lie nicely on the measures.

Another good way to learn how people pull certain things off is visit addresses of some bytebeat songs online and you can copy the song to your bytebeat memory (by bringing up the playlist in the shortcut menu) and then apply that song to blank bytebeat modules around you, and then analyse the sequencers etc.

I’m currently using one by Artisan for my Expedition base. I’m not sure how they pulled this off; it works when I apply it to the modules back at my base, but if I go away or analyse the modules, it messes it all up and loses the polyrhythm. It also sounds distorted and more like a square wave when played back in the bytebeat walkman ¯\ _ (ツ )_ /¯

Artisan is very talented at Byte Beat

So I asked Artisan a question about the polyrhythm thing and why his more unusual songs lose their sync when wandered away from or examined.

He just so happened to make a video about it  (should anyone decide to copy his songs back to their bases etc)

Was looking at this earlier and am totally going to try it.

This has been living in my head for a while, one of those miracle moments where you think, this shouldnt be this good. Life shouldn’t be this good. But it happened. And it is.

Escort missions? Nobody likes em, rarely have they actually been pulled off and made an entertaining part of the gaming experience.

So why would anyone make music, for a once off mission, you never do, and never hear, again… And why is it allowed to be this good? I dunno. But it is. And it happened.

I’m talking about FF7 Rebirth again, aha! I tricked you!

You have to escort this cute dog Salmon.

He has his own theme music… (dont mind the length, looping bgm)

Whats more…

Lil dote comes with his own battle music too.

It has no right to be this good. No right at all. Especially when inserted into a cherished game where changes and additions could cause the internet to eat a small child. They just caught lightning in a botttle here and I routinely think about how happy it made me in the moment.

So I’m dropping my manic sunday morning obsession here for yas '^ _ ^

I’m conflicted if this belongs in music tastes or should be in games and game-related

Edit:

Bonus cover youtube threw my way, does a bang up job and got fans to send in cute dog videos so extra bonus!

This makes me feel bad about renaming my dogs who have gotten so old and beaten up. I now call them One-Eyed Freak, Little Deaf Girl and Loopy the Embecile. They don’t seem to mind. But now I feel ashamed

The only thing I can think of when watching this is… Dethklock! The only thing missing is something falling down and smashing a couple dozen spectators into a gory pulp with everybody cheering on.
