It seems our (U.S. supplied) nuclear deterrent missile system doesn’t work. Fell into the sea a few hundred yards from launch, for the second time.

Not a good look when you’re deliberately annoying Putin.

Gremlins from the Kremlin.
At least this is comforting;
“Test-fired missiles are not armed with their nuclear warheads”
What kind of world do we live in where people have to be told this?

The reason we know the missiles are faulty is because we test them. If they don’t work, they’re faulty - and they don’t, so they are.

We don’t test the warheads any more. Hmmm…

Reminds my of the Simpsons episode where Sideshow Bob set off an old nuclear bomb but it turned out to be a dud or had “spoiled” over the years

Odysseus IM-1

The full video which was streamed live

Lunar Surface Day One Update

Odysseus is alive and well. Flight controllers are communicating and commanding the vehicle to download science data. The lander has good telemetry and solar charging. We continue to learn more about the vehicle’s specific information (Lat/Lon), overall health, and attitude (orientation). Intuitive Machines CEO Steve Altemus will participate in a press conference later today to discuss this historic moment. Press conference information will be coordinated with NASA and published shortly.

For a craft named Odysseus of all things, this went surprisingly smooth…

Odysseus stumped its toe on a rock on landing and is now laying on its side. However, most payloads appear to be working.
In the meantime,

It seems to be a trend of the new generation of lunar probes to fall over on landing…
There’s probably a millenial joke in there somewhere.

Good opportunity to create a new absurd conspiracy theory for the global idiocracy. I’ll give it a go:

Moons Rotation is Speeding Up!
If you have noticed that you are feeling more tired lately, it could be the effect the moon’s rotation is having on all living creatures since it began to accelerate its rotation.
Space agencies across the Earth are scambling to reach the moon surface to study the phenomenon, with concerns the changes could be closely linked to fatigue symptoms being felt all across our planet.

Multiple efforts by different nations to return to the luna surfuce have been recently thwarted with the crafts being knocked over upon landing by the moving surface, much like stepping into a active treadmill.

Scientists are working in conjuction with the various space agencies, (in between naps), to develop wheeled landing gear to reduce the hazard and allow the craft to land and slide to a stop, much like a child in socks on a tile floor.

As all of these commercial companies work to reach space for deliveries and studies of various kinds, it will be quite interesting to see how they innovate and dream up ideas. It’s kinda like being back at the start of the space race as people submitted all kinds of crazy ideas.
