Hello.
I enjoy composing and listening to music, as well as solving puzzles. It seems there’s quite a few new members here!
Looking forward to taking part in this community.

Hello! I’m Renpy, I also found this forum via Waking Titan. I wrote an intro a while ago, but didn’t want to feel like I was intruding, so I deleted it. Nice to meet everyone!
HI - I’m jojo. Some of my students did a project on ham radio for the TinkerCon we just ran (our school’s first of I hope many) and now I am curious as all get out. I like learning new things and I am a social bug and enjoy community and meeting people. I am a very new person to radio (what is the proper radio slang for someone new to radio?) but hope to learn a lot!!
What do people suggest as good places/references to start?
Overwhelming? Is there anything I or anyone can do to help?
ARRL is usually a good jumping off point, but ham radio has a really strong mentoring mentality to it-- newbies are almost always paired up with more experienced radio operators (called “Elmers”) while they learn the ropes. I recommend looking through the ARRL listing of amateur radio clubs and reaching out to one that’s near you!
No, it’s just a lot of new people all joining at once! I felt a little pressured at first, it seemed like a lot of folks were maybe scrutinizing me? but I also could have been reading into it too much
thank you (puts the link on my weekend to-do list)! Mentor/apprentice is a great learning technique (I work at a Tech school and many of the classes use that structure).
PS - I know Elmer probably comes from somewhere else, but I so thought of Elmer’s Glue when I read that
I mean, when you’re just starting out you’ll probably stick to your Elmer like glue!
I don’t think anyone is doing that. I think we are a bunch of newbies excited about learning something new, investigating, and such. Thank you for your patience and time to read and answer all of the flurry of questions (is there a hugs emoticon on this thing? )
no but there’s this
Hi all, Hussar here. New to radios, but have always been interested in puzzles and such.
Hello!
DJ here, but most call me by my radio name Darrel. I’ve been picking up transmissions from something called Waking Titan that led me to this fine looking community. Hope you guys don’t mind if I hang out here for a bit.
Hello all, AtLaZTD here. Im new to all of this, but I hope I can learn alot more about Waking Titan. Lets get this show on the road shall we.
Hello. I’m happy to meet you all. I’m not really into radio yet, but I’m excited to learn and explore.
Hey everyone, I’m Sam. Callsign is Slap. I’m new to this whole thing. Super excited to see what’s gonna happen
Hey hey.
I’m Blokeh, fresh from the No Man’s Sky subreddit.
I’ve been closely following their own ARG which it seems have inexplicably entwined itself with the Waking Titan.
The links between the two are too close to be coincidental, so I’m hoping to be at least a little useful to both - a bridge, so to speak.
So… Yeah. Let’s head on into the rabbit hole, and see how far it goes.
have the names Major Sophie Dubois and Elizabeth Leighton come up in the NMS ARG investigation?
Not yet.
In fact, no names have been mentioned in any of the tapes or spectrographs, and in-game, the names are all crazy alien cobblers, sooo shrugs
Radio is the way I get close to my grandfather. The only way I can remember. O how I miss him so. He had a news station the best in my little town. He talked about everything on that radio. He sometimes told me about the war so much death and now his. He will not be forgotten. Every time I use a radio I think of him. O the memorys.
Hey! I’ve been posting around here the last couple days and I realized I never properly introduced myself! I got too swept up in this Waking Titan nonsense that I lost my manners. I’m Doug, you can call me Jam (or Doug, whatever strikes your fancy), and I live just outside Detroit, MI. (It’s not as bad as everyone thinks, I promise!)
Funny story, a few days before I found the Waking Titan website, I was talking to a friend of mine who is a HAM and instructor about getting a license. It’s crazy to think I’d find myself involved in a HAM community, but not talking radios!
