Wish You Were Here
I’m glad you were able to beat him in a game of cricket. I wasn’t so lucky
So far, I’m really enjoying it. Exploration and investigation is intense, with loads of disparate information coming at me.
I’m not enjoying combat so much - single enemies are OK, but groups are near impossible. I probably need to adjust my tactics. An aspect I really don’t like is that if you clear an area of enemies, then leave, and come back, the enemies have respawned - so you have to fight them all over again. That’s quite annoying.
Graphics are not astounding by modern standards, but the scenery is pretty, and quite representative of the real-life place - in a compressed sort of way.
The voice acting is all over the place - I’ve noticed accents from almost everywhere except Cumbria - I’ve heard Newcastle, Manchester, Yorkshire, Essex, Lancashire, and Dublin - but if you don’t come from Northern Britain, you probably won’t notice.
I shouldn’t be picky, though. As I said, I like it, and I’m having fun.
I am having fun too. Finding recipes definitely helps. I can make grenades and molotovs and that helps a lot for groups but, avoidance is best. The small pockets and limited ammo coupled with low fire rate weapons, all force you to think out every path forward.
At first you think, this area is not that big, but then you enter a cave or a vault or find areas of no trespassing. Then you realize there are multiple maps. And some places, I have run away from…
There are hints of Fallout. The old music, which is really creeping me out … the collectible lunchboxes…the robots patrolling the streets…yet, it is most definitely not Fallout.
This is closer than I want to be
There’s clearly an influence from Fallout. It also seems to be heavily seasoned with powdered Half-Life 2. There’s an abandoned children’s playground in Wyndham Village that could have been lifted straight from City 17 or Minefield.
I told Captain Sims that Morris Wick was recruiting pagans. Later while exploring Skethermoor Prison, I found Wick dead in a cell.
Sims is not on the side of the angels.
I did the same but have not found him yet. I wondered what happened to him.
This game does a good job of handing you decisions without giving you all the facts.
Wish I could keep playing but I have someplace to be tonight and tomorrow morning…
Decided to just explore today and scope out new areas. I did manage to place one battery…very concerned about the whole situation. Should I listen to the voice on the phone?
I mean, who placed these call boxes anyway?
Interior of St Katherine’s Church, Wyndham.
I like the way the sun through the stained glass is projected onto the wall. Clearly some of the graphics have received more attention than others.
Yes. And it colors the floor as well. It is beautiful and yet kind of eerie. Looking at the floor gave me an unsettled feeling…or maybe it was just the preacher and they way he did not really answer my questions…
Ooh, is this an RTX feature or do they have in-engine raytracing?
Or perhaps a very controlled scene that has some nice transparent textures tied to that window globally that are then ray cast onto the scene? Definitely the less taxing approach for hardware
Either way, it’s pertty
I think this is most likely. The graphics in the rest of the game are OK, but nothing spectacular. It’s obvious that the Church was some 3D artist’s pet project - they clearly put a lot of time and effort into it.
Don’t mind me, I’m just always looking for reasons to justify paying more than twice it’s usual price at the time, for an RTX 2060 during the COVID lockdowns/ silicon shortage

Back at it. Made it into the Castle Ruins.
Don’t trust her…in fact, don’t trust anyone
This was no easy task
Is this correct or has Google AI gotten stupid…I think perhaps the latter…
I would have thought it was more “new light examines old shadows” - but I ran it through three different machine translators (none of them Google), and they all said “dispels”.
Google can no longer give me a translation with any kind of reliability. It used to be great…
