Apparently it’s not a mod. It’s an official Bethesda upgrade they’ve been quietly working on for some time. Supposedly releasing in June.

Quietly working on an oblivion upgrade while knowing a team of mods have been doing it more or less for free and as a passion project for years, is kind of a dick move. I hope they just got the team to move the mod to an official release. Or at least that would have been to me, the just thing to do. But I’m not a game dev ceo guy so what would I know about business or fairness

Well, the remake is being heralded as a Bethesda product, but it seems they contracted Virtuos to do most of the work. And, so far, nobody’s saying where they got their files from. So perhaps…

Ah yes, just got reminded by email. Certainly looking forward to this! Apparently I got the full legacy version for free on GOG, which also has the demo for the new version available. It looks wonderful in full 3D! Played the original on Steam a few years back, and even played it way back when on PlayStation. Makes me hope for more remakes, like Sinking Island 
Of course it’s going to be Inon Zur doing (re-)creating the music. Hoping for a vinyl release actually, while I already have to catch up on some Syberia vinyl.

ATM, it’s saying it will release in “approximately 4 hours”. I’m not aware of any preload, though - so presumably that’s just a time for it to start downloading.

That would be 9 am for me. Thankfully I went back to sleep. It is now the reasonable hour of almost 6 am. That gives me time to eat, have a chai latte and feed my critter pets. About the time I finish that, SM will likely tweet the cowboy…
Approx 1 hour…caffeine from the chai is kickin’ in. I am ready! Bring on the radiation!

I have to say the Mature Content description is very detailed and kinda funny, 
but I know there are people who appreciate this kind of detail. Kudos to the devs for including this.

Apparently there is an issue with Steam with some saying it will be fixed in 3 days for sure 
Guess I will move on with my day…after I demand a refund for the early access I am not getting
And apparently they gave this build to the streamers… not the best launch
Aaaand there is an update. That would be the fastest fix ever on Steam…if it fixed it
Ok 46 GB with all the needed proton and runtime updates. That should do it.

About 8GB smaller so I know I lost something moving to Xbox but I got no time for dealing with issues

Don’t bother trading for the metal detector, you will find one at 29.1E 73.9N that is, supposing this is a fixed location and not variable to each palyer
