I do think that this is the last update before the anniversary and then we’ll hit 4.0
Also, two arms? Dual-wielding multitools? Lol. You never know with HG.

That’s what I was thinking too. I might be dealing with a stronghold in my fic. 
My novel is turning into one big wishlist, a lot of which isn’t possible with NMS in its current form. I have anticipated a few things - I’d like to think it was inspiration for the team, but every creator has a bit of an ego. One of those wishes is for upgraded defenses for settlements as well as Freighters, especially with Pirates taking on more of their own life. Frigates have a few nice upgrades, but I’d like to see more.

But it’s already on 3.93.
3.95 would imply a bug fix to 3.93. Assuming anyone at HG cares about these things. They’ve run out of numbers, so it’ll have to be 4.0.

Developers never run out of numbers! E.g. my colleagues would rather name the next build “3.100” than go to 4.0 prematurely

3.85 was the release number for Outlaws though, with 3.8 being Sentinel. HG tried real hard to prevent a bug fix from taking that number (a long time before some experiemntals hit public) so I’m guessing they’re doing the same thing for 3.95. Might be the freighter/ asteroid update we’ve been seeing hints about now actually.

Yea. There may be an expedition associated with the update but him showing the update images does imply its more than an expedition.
Also, as for the speculation of an Army, I don’t mind more “action” elements in NMS still but an army seems like a bit too much for this game so I doubt it. So far all the combat related updates have been pretty tame and mostly avoidable and does add to the feel of the in-game universe being more lived-in so any combat related gameplay will likely be along the same lines, just more diverse.
