Future Update Speculations

Huh… Armstrong… Strongarm emoji… Yeah, that’s definitely a very strong connection right there. In that case, the update might be more related to exploration, actually.

Here is a bigger pic. I believe SM is referring to the impressions hitting 1 mil which is the number of times the tweet has been looked at, RTd, searched, etc…

I would be totally behind a storyline that reunited us with our old chums from the Artemis quest. They should still be out adventuring.

But I’m also hoping that all the old threads of Lore from the beginning through Waking Titan are still going to be brought to life in the universe. And that specific locations are going to be used for special purposes in this Lore - and in Euclid, the galaxy where all the action is. Team Mercury has the ability to fling us across the many instances of galaxies, so they can fling us back “home.” And Portals, not to mention Teleporters, can whisk us around Euclid freely.

While it’s a little thinly spread around, there is a rich story in the history of this universe. For God’s sake, do something with it. :exploding_head:

I’m late… and I am glad to see something is in the works inside the HG headquarters! (again)

I googled 10 facts about Armstrong, this one I found interesting

Maybe a new story line “Gemini”?

Maybe something about aircrafts?

Who knows, but I am looking so forward for this!!

Twitter chatter keeps turning to Frigates. I have been wanting manned frigates from the start.
There is also a lot of chatter about galactic reset and actually, the biggest base builders out there are all for it. I am for it. The game feels like it needs a reset

I honestly dont care either way as long as they give us a way to rename things. Ocean World don’t make sense on desert planet.

:muscle: What could it be?

  • Armistice
  • Armageddon
  • City or ship building (although there are better emojis for these.)
  • Melee update
  • HG flexing their muscle in game

I do hear a lot of players in favor of a reset, but I also hear many saying they’d be upset if it messed up their existing bases. I have to admit I’m one of the latter, however I also strongly :muscle: want a terrain reset if that problem could be avoided. I recently started a new game using Jenga67’s Back To Foundations terrain mod, and finding the ol’ pre-Next style terrain way more fun and interesting to explore. Had a similar experience with jasondude7116’s Terra Firma.

I’ll mention what I always do on the subject… The game uses very modular, (relatively) easily extendible settings files to define the game’s procedural generation. Something that HG themselves has continually used & expanded to introduce new assets, biomes, etc. Even the terrain config was extended with a 2nd group of settings just for Origins’ “prime” planets. This suggests most code should already be in place to both: 1) preserve current terrain settings for planets/systems with existing player bases; 2) add new groups of settings to generate more interesting terrain everywhere else! Seems like a win-win.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Team Mercury were itching to implement a few more tweaks and extensions to the Foundation ™ of their universe. Maybe even wipe some of that slate clean to do it. I’d say go for it, for the sake of more gameplay elements and cool tricks up their many sleeves.

I’d also like to see them streamline some - a lot - of their crafting to reflect the philosophy of the early days of this universe. Where radioactives were collectively useful for the same sorts of things, oxides, silicates, ferrites and so on. Carting around four or five versions of iron, for example… egh. :no_mouth:

For those with bases already built, especially the big cool ones, there should be a way to wrap up their base structure in a redeployable seed that restores the while thing to its former glory. More or less. It seems like they did this before with pretty okay success. I’m waiting to find Earth 2.x to build mine.

The big difference now is that it’s not just small bases built on old predefined small flat plots, that can only be restored on new predefined small flat plots. We can now have very large complexes, built on almost any unpredictable terrain. Many have sprawling electricity & pipelines connected to specific hotspots across a particular landscape. These bases aren’t likely to come close to lining up with anything except the original terrain they were built on. :frowning: I do hope HG can ultimately implement a good hybrid solution to make people on all sides very happy.
