Well, a setlement update is one hell of a welcome addition!
Yes! Been waiting for this one ever since they told us they would be adding to it
I am both saddened and disappointed. No bacon ![]()
I’m quite surprised, I figured settlements would become a thing for an inevitable switch 2 version but figured it would still go untouched since it isn’t available on OG switch…
If they’re touching settlements, does this mean, dare I say, they’ve gotten them working on Switch? I’ve always assumed its lack of parity across all platforms was the reason they just never went back to working on what felt like something designed with room for improvement in mind.
Who said it was gonna be called the Beacon update? You win the internet today! (im too busy holding in my pee to scroll up, I really gotta hit enter and RUN!)
New settlement missions/requests/etc means new settler fluff too, inner-lore-child is happy.
Switch 2 arrives tomorrow. We shall see…
Sure it’s already old news, kids these days are all about that Switch 3 ![]()
I know I made a few posts about maybe NMS nintendo fans finally getting settlements and MP with the arrival of the Switch 2 but I just can’t seem to find those comments to do my victory parade with… But you all know I said it
Did I Mandela effect myself?
You said it.
Here’s a firecracker

I just watched Adolescence on netflix and I believe that emoji means “Red Pill Exploding”. I don’t like being called an Incel and I have reported you for harassment
(its a really good 4 part mini-series with some incredible acting and scene blocking, do watch everyone asap )
Hey touching back on this, You know what would be a great use for all these new building abilities and upgrades? If some could act as warehouses for your ships, bones and food stores
They could act like storage containers remotely accessible from various places via an upgrade installation on board a freighter/starship/exosuit and also built at the settlement to allow transmission and increase the container count from beyond 0-9.
Went snooping about the NMS site again, looks like HG (finally!) updated their press package a few days ago. Nice to see all the current team members laid out on the page, as well as images that aren’t 10 years old ![]()
Side note, did we get the full, Beacons inclusive update key-art collection from this page before this?
There’s some weird, migration stuff happening with the site too I believe, the news pages just shows 3 patches for Beacons at the moment with no history. I wonder if HG might finally be categorizing the sections to make News and Release-Log functionally separate?
Edit: aaand they’re back! Re-added ~ 2.5 hours ago, according to the sitemap.
Good to see it’s finally getting some attention. There’s no change in the Light no Fire section, though - what on Earth is going on with that?
Who knows but I think the odds are likely that there’s a noclip documentary being made about light no fire. Those two Waterford lads have a good relationship and was their go to guy when he was at IGN. Since starting No Clip, they’ve scored some crazy exclusive access to games in development as well as post deconstruction discussions after it’s had its day in the sun.
Would be crazy of them not to have gotten in touch and asked hey, can we cover the development of your new title?
Come then, maybe we’ll get some insight on any unforeseen delays or if this is still all according to schedule, done when it’s done.
The clean up/restructuring of a website does make you think maybe something is incoming, hey while you’re working on our Light No Fire portal, our NMS website could use a little TLC.
Wednesdays are for massive speculation based on nothing but my own wild fantasies, didn’t you know?
A post was split to a new topic: NMS 10 Year Celebration
Ad campaigns seem to be running. Found a creator on Instagram, and of course a video from Capt Steve so far:

Seems like these creators also have special creator links to the NMS website, probably to track who got HG the most clicks? Did they do this for previous as campaigns?
I don’t recall ever seeing NMS ads of any kind….maybe one on TV way back at launch?
With HG knowing the audience they are targeting has a large online presence, this makes a lot of sense.
Very interesting…
They seemed to be aimed at explaining how to play.
Clicking the link takes you here
Ya know, if they wanted to find the best avenue for another ARG….yeah, wishful thinking. But it does seem like they are gathering data.
Then again, they have tapped out every console, each of which brought them more copies sold. To keep selling copies, they need to reach more players and optimally, without spending any money on it.
We keep saying we are willing to pay for updates. Are we willing to advertise for free? I say, heck yeah! Go hit those like buttons!
The thing is, the ARG was a major expense, and a big gamble, only undertaken to pull Hello Games’ chestnuts out of the fire.
Their chestnuts are no longer in the fire. In fact, their future plans are not to light one. They don’t need to gamble or make a major investment to stimulate interest. Whilst we would undoubtedly enjoy anotherr ARG, Hello Games don’t need one - and they’re the ones who would have to pay for it.
I agree, it’s a bit difficult to see where major expansion of NMS sales would go from here - they’ve pretty much saturated all possible markets - but that’s precisely why a successor is the way to go.
By far the most powerful tool available to Hello Games for marketing Light No Fire is the existing NMS player base. I imagine that before they launch Light No Fire, they will seek to get as many existing NMS players on-board as possible.
Maybe we are closer to a LNF release than we know.
I wouldn’t doubt it one bit if they just drop it on us one day. No warning.
