Since the last few updates have been a bit literal with the names (Interceptor, Sentinel, Outlaws), I feel like Echoes might build into the actual Echo Collective residing inside Nada’s Terminal, possibly in the form of a new race of constructs and some new lore or storyline surrounding them, as well as an expedition with more clues like Singularity, all leading up to the real “big” update, whatever that 4th part of the arc may be. In terms of features, it might have some NPC AI upgrades or more Factions improvements, tying in the whole “Crimson Vs Atlandtid” bit together.

My gut tells me that Echoes will bring in simulation generation at the anomaly. In other words, we this would have prebuilt scenarios and perhaps player customization of simulated systems.

I agree with both of you. We have a simulation, in fact, multiple simulations running inside the Anomaly. The Anomaly is protected from the Galactic resets of the Atlas. Though, it seems, not forever protected, according to Nada and Polo. And we just gathered a bunch of those echoes and gave them a collective body…which so far, just stands there waiting for you to tell it what it is. Crimson or Atlantid. We are swimming in echoes at the moment. What do these echoes do inside the simulation? What is our old friend Artemis doing inside the simulation? Unless you chose to let him die.
It will be interesting to see if we gain further access to those simulations or if the barriers between simulations breaks down further and one simulation spills over into our simulation.

Every previous major update could be considered an echo. I first played nms during pathfinder…Id love to be able to play 1.0 or get into AR again I think AR was very pretty.

Dont think that will actually happen, but I can hope

I think the Station updates will get dropped, New Expedition. More UI improvements

Anyone know what font uses the 3 stacked lines for a capital E?

I agree that the name is likely going to be more direct rather than cryptic. And it would make sense too considering that this is part of a story line where we collected sentience echoes. We last left off with the ability to use our scanner to locate sentience echoes in our reality, which is a bundle of purple glass and dead autophages and we brought one back to life(sorta) so “Echoes” seems to be alluding directly to what we were doing, bringing autophages back to life.

So a new race and likely new places to explore involving this race seems very likely.

While nothing is certain, more hints to this is that previous updates have included improvements to AI movement at settlements and procedurally generated settlements. And it wasn’t subtle in any way  entire structures moved around and stairs that led nowhere were fixed for most people and the AI didn’t get stuck on random things as much any more. So I think they want the introduction of this new race to be smooth and not janky as settlements were.

It would be really punny if the last ARG update came out on September 19.

Hmmm is Echoes (read into the continuum between “inspired by” to “derivitive copy-catting”) perhaps a dig at the imminent release of Starfield, trying to generate its own hype being a definitive space adventure/exploration game with “vast scale”…

Also may explain the anniversary delay , perhaps NMS wanting to steal thunder or ride the “Echoes” of space game hype in the wake of SF release.

Some of the Youtube hypers are starting to come out in force again, claiming massive update …SIGH.
Anyone with half a brain knows the trailer is a repeat of the 5th year teaser for Frontiers. Its not some start of an elaborate campaign, or more work would have gone into it.

This is why people get disappointed.

Speculation is fun…hyping people just is wrong in my opinion.

I tend to agree, although HG have to shoulder some of the blame in this case.

Clearly there’s been a delay. Rather than say absolutely nothing, HG have decided to tease just the name of the next update, and then return to the usual silence.

In doing this, they’ve created an expectation, but then provided nothing to fill it. It’s only to be expected that, in the absence of any hard information, the more imaginative enthusiasts will fill the gaps with their wilder imaginings.

You’d think that from bad experience, Hello Games would have learned not to do this.

I’ve only been in this echo chamber a short while but find myself suspicious of Chem trails and pizza places all of a sudden :eyes:

I tend to agree, put those Youtubers filling the heads of viewers with…THIS IS GONNA BE HUGE, TONS OF FEATURES…

Is in no way shape or form helpful to anyone.

I’m just now noticing the question mark after “soon”…

Whenever I see peoples expectations get out of hand online etc I get nervous flashbacks to launch day ’ ^ _^ You think they would have learned by now, expectation leads only to disappointment XD
