WARNING
If you return to the mission panel at the space outposts, DO NOT use the Hand in Missions button that allows you to hand in multiple missions. They will not count toward the completion of the missions.
In my case, it reset all the missions and I had to do them again

Are you on NMS v7.01 ?, I have just been doing the last of mine over the last couple of hours with v7.01 and did not have any hiccups. I may just have been lucky if you are on the same version.
Edit: Although I say without hiccups, getting those damned Auxilliary Cores from inside a hulk with bad collision boundaries, I had to bounce around like a drunk wasp ![]()
I have had several missions in a row not count now. Very irritating. I am in exp but we just got another small patch
I seem to have found a workaround or the cause for this issue.
At first I was able to hand in all of the new salvage missions. Then I could only hand in comet dust or goo missions.
I noticed when you are at the return to process salvage part of the mission, when you land, if you already have a processed version of the item, it skips this step and you can proceed straight to deliver the cargo.
This seems to be whats causing it, and why comet dust and goo are free from the issue since it doesnt require processing to recieve.
So i cleared my exosuit of all new processed items, put them in storage to be double sure.
I did a salvage mission, brought it back, was able to do the processing stage of the mission without it being skipped, and then the mission successfully cleared from the board and gave me rewards.
I cleared my inventory of this item and tried another one. This worked again.
I hope this helps those having this issue.
Just got an exp patch that is supposed to fix this. Will test it asap
I don’t see the button at all now. But after one successful mission, the next 2 have failed… Working Orbital Cleanup in a VyKeen system…
I went back to my long term base in Sudzerbal to claim the station there ..
.. One mission left to claim it, but I am now seeing all the problems you have seen with handing them in.
Its a bit deflating when the game throws bug after bug to prevent an achievement.
I had one where I had to go down a long sort of intestine tube, that was a bit fun.
Also had one to find “Compressed plasma” .. couldn’t for the life of me find where the heck that was and eventually it went into meltdown
.. abandon mission time.
Now it seems some missions will not trigger because the game falsely thinks I do not have a Tractor beam installed (I have two of them which are working fine so far otherwise).
I have missions to hand in I never started.
And the one for a Reactor core, threw it in the salvage processor but it didn’t complete the mission.
Gave up for now, its a bit frustrating altogether.
Trying Todds method next, as I think I do have some previously processed items.
Todds method worked in as much as it allowed me to do the last mission I needed, but I still have missions which cant be done due to the game thinking I do not have a Tractor beam .. NMS being NMS.
Ah well, objectives achieved for now.
So I just came back to the forum and how nice is to see the bug that has been pestering me the most these two days top at the landing page.
In my experience almost all missions related to corvettes and the gravity gun are glitched, in many ways. It is not unplayable but dang is annoying..
Welcome back @Dalolme
And @toddumptious is correct. The salvage missions get hung up over what is in your pockets. I am going to try the storage idea
Update;tried the storage idea and it worked. I was finally able to hand in items and have it count…
now if only I could get the graphics issue worked out.
I figured something out, if anyone is getting a problem I had with Space Salvage mission saying you cant do them because you do not have a Tractor Beam installed (when you have), the problem is due to your Corvette Tech Inventory having all of its slots filled when you install the Tractor Beam. Solution: Remove something like an engine trail or a bobblehead, remove one of your Tractor beams and re-install it again. You will now have the Tractor beam taking up one of your Tech slots .. and it is now valid for those missions which require it ..
I had 2 Tractor beams before, but they were not in my Tech slots (because it was too full at the time I installed the Tractor beams), so the Tractor Beam requirement would not recognise I had them.
I found that some NMS fetch-quest missions don’t register what’s in your suit so I leave that material in another inventory, then shift it back again mid-mission. This has been a come & go bug on PS5 for me for quite a long time.
In Cosmos, I noticed that; say you want a Comet Dust mission from the little spaceport box. You have dust but it doesn’t register. Slip the dust in another non-suit inventory. Then sign up for the mission. Then put the dust in your suit. (Chances are it still doesnt register) Run up the catwalk to next to your Corvette & hopefully the mission will (finally) notice you actually do have dust & register it. If it is enough, you’ll be prompted to hand in the mission.
It took me a few attempts to work this out & in my rather limited time on this new update, it has worked every time. Standing about waiting doesn’t.
I hope this helps someone ![]()
A bug I’ve found on PS5.
If I uninstal the tractor beam to place it in a better position, it vanishes altogether & I have to buy another.
Best place I found to instal it it is on the underside of a RHS rear(ish) hab that has no decorations & is offset from your main passageway. It vents straight onto the landing pad & allows easy punting into the gizmo for processing. Probably a very generic tip & old news to most but hopefully helps a latecomer setting up their first Corvette since the Cosmos Update
The mission issue got me again last night even though I thought I had all my pockets emptied. It could be I had a data packet in my ship inventory. So I threw everything into my freighter and spent some time reorganizing my pockets making sure every space was filled so anything harvested would be forced to the bottom for ease in finding it.
It seems ship inventory will also interfere with missions completing.
So I am still having issues. I am fine-tuning my research to make a more detailed report.
I just ran couple of missions for Cosmic Dust and they turned in just fine.
I then had 2 missions for a Pathogen Sac. I made sure I gathered 2 of them.
The game told me to process it so I processed 1. It placed it in my pocket and then told me to hand it in at the kiosk.
I tried. It never left my pocket but the mission vanished from the mission board.
‘Vanishing’ parts when deleted in building mode (corvette) seem to go in exosuit storage (unless no empty slots in inventory, and in this case it could effectively vanish). It would make sense these go to corvette workshop storage, but no.
Then, parts availability in corvette build menu doesn’t seem to take in account exosuit storage anymore.
My last several missions, I didn’t have to interact with the yellow kiosk except to initialize. Once I collected the materials, then returned to the outpost and processed the salvage, I dumped whatever was in my pockets into a freighter storage unit … at which point the mission completed all on its own, rewards and all.
I find the biological delivery ones always end up in the “hand in” mission reward area. You dont get the rewards on hand in but at least the mission is cleared from the board.
This itself seems to be a seperate bug than the inventory based mission reset bug. Basically biological missions are getting replaced on the board before you return with them so they end up in the hand in area, theyre already cleared from the mission board at this point.
No issue with space hulk or asteroid missions with the workaround, just dont take multiples of the same mission type at once i.e multiple condensed ice or multiple data packets etc.
You can take several at once so long as theyre not repeating items. I also complete and hand them all in one by one just to be completely on the safe side of not hitting the bug.
Another error ive encountered is a mission to recieve pressurised plasma from a space hulk. An item that does not seem to spawn at all at space hulks, so can not be completed, however you can buy it from the NPC at the salvage space platform, but without the retrieve and salvage phases to work through, buying it wont get you there. It is required for some base decorations so its good we can still get it if needed while its in a bugged state.
I am having trouble with all of the missions. It seems sometimes they count and sometimes they do not. I don’t really care about rewards i just want the points neeeded to take over the space station. Thank goodness all we need is 5 but then I also need guild and standing and these missions offer more points.
The whole thing is frustrating…
