I’d planned to spend most the day in the area but my dad’s new pc arrived so I was setting it up and then transferring all his files over through the network, gutting mcaffee and putting in the antivirus I pay for, telling Microsoft to not be a bother tronty times and no… I don’t need to pay for Microsoft word, I can see in the bottom left corner there’s a tiny blue link that says continue with free version, as with the rest of the 365 suite that comes packaged with win 11.
Why do you hate the elderly and the vision impaired, Microsoft, whilst loving their money? Pretty straight forward question. Never seem to have an answer.
All in all, my first experience with it and I have to say windows 11 is a wonderful operating system store front.
Veering back on topic, I’ll be on shortly to search for somewhere in the outer rim to set up some industry, might see some of you on my travels. If I’m frozen it’s cos I haven’t quit smoking yet or the cats have come for me.
If they prove to be extra annoying , call in the troops and maybe we can speed the search for the last few schwimmers up.
I’ll be looking for a gas giant myself for gas industry moons so I may inadvertently end up there
Found one not far from Vetusta Ruina called Oscowe I think, I’ve renamed it to Gas Craic. If someone says “you’re gas craic” it means you’re great fun to be around or generally funny 
or maybe gas craic was had. Craic is an OP word.
It has scorched, toxic and irradiated moons so all my gases are covered. I might try double up the scorched as a phosphorus farm too if I find two close. I don’t think I’ll bother doing the long search for an S/A/B source, I’ll take C if the pattern and proximity is good, also at a stage where bare min production suits me fine for the occasional top up.
Sounds like fun, I didn’t realize galaxies went out that far. I am going to hop to the next galaxy in my day one save soon. Perhaps, I will go AFC after first.
I like that “Poly’s Fog”, sounds like a item in NMS. Maybe one of those jars. Too bad we can’t name regions of stars.
We should open a NMS Atlas65 golf course. 
Ok. Yeah. Impossible to find these water creatures on this underground underwater planet…may enlist some help.
This system also contains a Blighted Moon and it really lives up to the description.
It depends on where you are.
If you are on the horizontal level with the galactic core it may only be 820,000LY from core to edge.
The thickness of the galaxy at the core is about 100,000 LY from top to bottom.
If however, you like to explore using the Galactic Map you can find the furtherest corners of the galaxy are 1,160,000LY away from the core but you need to follow the ‘edges’ to work out where they are…
It took 15 minutes (R1 speedy travel) in the galactic map to go from the furthermost corner I’ve been to, to the core.
The galaxies are mighty big.

I’ve landed on the first of this gas giants moons, a Torrid planet with Solanium. Landed at a local trade station.
I got the first of the gas farms set up and I found some phosperous and sulpherine close together, just under 600u apart so I popped a base computer down the middle. I planned to call it Sulphosterous and was nice to see the random name generated was close enough sounding at the begining.
It took a really long time to actually find my first sulpherine site, I kept hitting oxygen. Which is why it was a shock to discover these moon had a very large inhabitant, it actually appeared right after I took this picture after finishing the Sulferine/Phosperous base.
When I came out of photo mode I was surrounded by a large dust cloud and heard the tell tale roar. I quickly switched back to photo mode and moved the camera out of the dust cloud.
I had mentioned early during worlds part 2 I was having trouble scanning an infested planet in a purple system, I couldn’t spot the descriptor on any planets.
This moon gave no indication there was worms, there definitely wasn’t worm larva infestation sites but there certainly was a worm. And it was rare, first sigting after an hour. It didn’t force trigger one on landing like it usually does and I was on foot travelling or building for the hour.
Perhaps lacking the descriptor is just a common thing with moons and I just never noticed until gas giants and solid giants sent us moon hopping ad nausea.

Do we have a consensus that this is an area where we want to establish a presence?
If we do, what are the feelings about naming conventions for stars and planets we claim? ETARC? CSD? Something else?
I actually took off looking for interesting clusters & found nothing exceptional.
I visited a few purple systems but nothing was unique & I haven’t claimed them.
Exploring is a good start, then we can pick something that’s a bit special
I then returned to my own little place on the outer rim to do a little business, (if you know what I mean🏴☠️) & pick up stocks of frigate fuel makings.
I then got distracted whizzing around the Galactic Map across the outer alpha quadrant looking for a decent star chain to waypoint.
I’d really like to find another ‘good’ one; either duel region long or at least really straight.
That, or a destictive cluster of some sort…
Once we find something, I am all for naming it. The new deacal is Atlas Citizen Science Division. I named the system I am in now ATLAS CSD. But I am open to whatever everyone wants.
Todd mentioned in an earlier post A-65 & I kind of like that.
It’s historically relevant & it’s short & simple to add on.
Plus… it doesn’t look overly different to the generic names so won’t draw undue attention.
Maybe A-65 CSD could work…?
Would it just be the system or all the planets too that got the identifier.
I generally just upload the generic names unless its a home base system or something I really want to find again but I’ll fit with whatever is decided.
I admit to being a little confused by @toddumptious suggestion. Where did A-65 come from? I wasn’t aware of it being a thing of ours.
Atlas-65 was something to do with Waking Titan.

I know for a while I used the Atlas decal & the 6 & 5 numbers as base decor… so it used to mean something.
Yes. It was one of the websites run by the Atlas Foundation during Waking Titan.

Forums.atlas-65.com is the link I use to get here. Well I still use the ETARC link I bookmarked all those years ago but it redirects to that.
I think the number had some significance or a wink to a pattern within the arg, whether it was periodic table numbers or what not I cannot recall. I just remember The Mercury Process was HG or Hello Games or something like that 
I actually can’t read the URL name without thinking of these guys and I kinda wish that wasn’t the case but I won’t hold it against anyone. Also this video was uploaded to YouTube 16 years ago 
Thank you. I don’t think I had ever seen it used in branding or logos. I have never been aware of people referring to the group as “Atlas 65”.
I suppose it makes sense.
I don’t think theyve used it officially themselves since either. It might have been an Alice and smith thing and when they handed the keys over HG decided to rebrand it a little but the URL was already purchased so might as well keep it.
I do seem to recall there used to be a splash page for signing up with the fictional organisation linked from the NMS website upon ARG completion and it kind of gave you background on the CSD and if I recall was part of the transition from ETARC to Atlas and sort of alludes to this being the official HG forum for NMS.
I don’t think you can reach this entry page anymore though and they may have dropped it since the NMS discord channel was well established and companies using them as their community facing mouthpiece has since become the standard model. Similar to how subreddits are the new homes for fandoms instead of a forum on the IPs website or fan forums like the old internet days. Those still exist but they don’t come with the popularity game and reach that a place like Reddit can offer.
Found a power source and a Radn source both within 200u of the centre of this crashed Freighter, so now I got friendly Autophage working the plant.
You can see the radon in top left and power in top right.
Nearly finished the nitrogen farm and then it’s off to the final boss, Methane.
I have yet to set foot on the gas giant so not sure what sort of terrain awaits me. Will be happy to have an all gas system again. Set one up on PC years ago but never bothered with gaseous industry on console before.
I like CSD for its game ARG reference. The Atlas logo plus CSD?
