You could do both ÆCSD.

Well, in hours or days we will have a decal and banner that says just that. We’re waiting for it to release on the anomaly.
I also agree that something that has to do with ”Atlas 65” would be a good name.
On the flip side, I also think we dont HAVE to use a name that matches our logo/decal/forum. We have creative freedom for a name this time and arent locked down to a name that was chosen for us. ![]()
Maybe something more edgy for our Autophage-like forum like “<system_error>” or maybe spell CSD in Hexadecimal? Just ideas.
But Atlas 65 is great too, for the record.

Hello fellow explorers.
I have located a small but very neat starchain in a green dust zone called the K******* Instability.
Quite pretty to circle around.
It is located 15000Ly T.C from the Poly search zone, so not on the edge but not far away either.
I’m off to investigate…
Its a segmented chain of yellow stars. Small but very neatly lined up.
I’ve set a waypoint on an adjacent blue star.
Edit. Waypoint went ‘wR0nĝ’. Diverted to alternative point
While on my way I found another one.
Its quite straight & unbroken & when you circle it it gives the immpression of a Christmas Tree.
I’m going to stop by, drop a base & continue on…
EDIT:
Due to a waypoint malfunction I’m going to look around this blue zone Christmass Tree Cluster instead
Just finished building all my gas factories in Oscowe (Gas Craic) so I’ll try venture out that direction using your images to guide.
I came across this nice view of two large flora and it also happened to be in the neighbourhood of nitrogen so i figured the next factory deserves a view.
No images of the finished methane farm yet but it was close to a power source so I’d built that earlier, first time trying the stacking approach.
I got 15,000 ly TC from Polys and spotted a system with a black hole called Raredom so I’m taking a sidequest to see if it’s as rare as it’s claiming to be
there’s also a nice star pattern nearby that isn’t a stand out shape but it had this nice density of small stars with large coloured ones ornamenting jt, it’s in this sort of empty region you’ll find yourself in after going 15200 or so LY towards centre from Vetusta Ruina, then up vertical plane a little.
Out of interest, has anyone exploring the rim found anything that’s been previously claimed?
I think the area is completely unexplored, but you never know…
I found nothing claimed. Where I am now is also unclaimed.
You guys aren’t going to believe this but thankfully I have images ![]()
I went to Raredom XII.
I tagged the system name with my usual then went to my freighters system scanner to see what the local planets were offering.
I see one has a stand out name.
Earth.
Someone’s been here? Obviously, someone has been here and named this moon…
Nope.
It’s called earth. Raredom was not false advertising.
This moon has the naturally generated name of Earth.
Currently undergoing an ice age, we should check back in a few hundred years and see if the humans survived.
Headed to Mad’s chain in the morning. The system I am in has water issues. The underground water issue exists in varying degrees on each planet. One has visible water but it is very shallow because most of it is trapped underground. On top of that, the number of aquatic animals in this system is very high. One planet is supposed to have 7. So far, it has been impossible to find them.
I’ve built a basic resource farm as a base camp but other than that, I’ve not explored much.
Just one pirate system near base camp & that’s it.
Decided to teleport about & delete a few of my bases & tidy up my inventories prior to getting to deep into this new venture.
Noted while backtracking through the discoveries list, that Todd, Oops & myself used to use the ECSD identifier when group exploring systems & I noticed from Todds post above that he still does.
I don’t really mind what we use but it would be good to make a decision.
I stayed on til a silly hour then swung by Mads and my eyes were so tired I kept losing his marker and getting sequestered by a giant bug.
Nice planet though, nice plains and meadows with marshy shallow water areas.
I’ve been using ECSD cos my memory is that’s what was decided upon during the first round of talks way back when towards the end of the ARG. Was a melding of the two identities going forward, ETARC CSD of the Atlas CSD (I think there were two other ones as well, a sort of galactic census group and a group that were going to aid travellers whose name I’ve forgotten entirely, all under the Atlas CSD umbrella. Not sure if any of it made it past concept or became more than a dedicated and diligent traveller but there was talks of the Atlas CSD having many “arms”.
Atlas CSD makes more sense as the defacto “this is us” name with the decals now and it acting as a beacon in game for curious travellers.
Having them arrive and needing to know what an ETARC is or was might be confusing and off putting. If they stick around long enough, maybe they’ll learn about ECSD/ETARC from one of the old guard who still has their units motto tattooed on their fore arm.
ATLAS-CSD.
Seems logical.
Easy to identify. Matches the site & logo.
Sounds good to me…
In my own adventures elsewhere, I just upload the proc-gen names but in the Citizen Scientist Exploration Zones, I can make a concious effort to ensure I scan as much as possible & ensure I tag the system appropriately.
Renaming things is a blessing we did not have in the past, the only problem now is if the person naming things never comes back ![]()
I actually made a big guffaw around Christmas during a redux. In September/October I was exploring the star chain on pc and console simultaneously, just warping in and scanning via freighter, to do a census on bases still uploaded in the area. Covering either side with each platform.
Some of the systems retained their original system names and planet names, however some has been replaced with a new natural name due to changes in the universe over the years and would claim I was first there, even if it still has a planet retaining a name from a prior iteration.
I was very careful not to hit the upload all button in the coming weeks, I didn’t want to accidentally claim half the star chain in the name of tOdd.
Then I took a break from that and started a Permadeath playthrough, before returning to my console main to do a redux I missed at start of the year before getting ps5.
During the expedition I had found an uninhabited system and scanned two whole planets, hit upload all for the quick nanites reward on rocks and plants and aminals.
That’s when I realised all my discoverys in my list from my main, are one of the things that come with you when joining an expedition from an existing save.
I spent the next hour renaming about 100 systems to add the ECSD tag so they at least match the rest of the Starchain.

Look, best case scenario, the Starchain stands as a monument to good intentions laid bare ![]()
I’m up for exploring the rim and dropping a base.
Rim Runner zealot here. Would love rim exploration and less chance of uninvited guests. ![]()
Polys giant planet system for entry seems to be having a weird issue with bases syncing, if anyone’s having similar issues or are seeing player builds let us know ![]()
Or if someone could check out oscowe, and see if my gas farms are visible, if not then it might be an issue with purple systems currently
