Don’t know if it’s my old vid card or a bug, but for me, using an older save, the HUD view and Stream screenshot agree. Photo mode turns ugly dark. Even changing time of day helps very little.
I hate when I wave to a random traveller and my guy yells hey over here… It’s like, no please don’t come near me I’m just being polite.
@Polyphemus I know you don’t use MP very little if at all so just a friendly reminder, the game will not pause via the usual methods if someone is in the system with you.
I play with MP on and this still gets me every expedition
Its a good way of getting dead.
You think you’re in pause because you accessed the options meanwhile you & your ship are bashing & bouncing over mountains.
Permadeath teaches you to ALWAYS find a safe spot.
I’m thinking that we’ve hijacked this topic pretty hard.
I think we should split the topic from post 317 OUT AT THE RIM down to this one & start a new Etarcians Exploring The Outer Rim or whatever topic (Poly can choose the name).
I think we should all be banned to set a precedent and insure this doesn’t happen again. Five weeks sounds fair.
I’ll prob do another hour or two myself before popping off, gonna make the base functional then explore the fog. Intermittent breaks to entertain cats of course.
I was planning on finding a gas giant with the right combo of moons that offer rad/sul/nit and make a refining system with all four gases as my next project so I think I’ll be doing that somewhere close by after I do a bit of scouring.
Was fun catching up spontaneously.
Was trying to sneakily leave you a silly decoration when you ‘woke up’.
Was thinking of a giant bucket… but was worried I might trap you.
Good game of ball by the way.
I like the new look.
See you on the next one maybe
I spent a long time catching fish for an unlock, I’ll keep it for a week then switch back to my usual guise.
I wasn’t expecting the force of our weapons to have an effect on the ball, I’ve only ever tried pushing and punching them in the past.
Mad-Hatter got a hole in one before we even knew where or what the goal was
I made sure your username didn’t appear in the portion I clipped, if I missed a frame let me know (it’s unlisted on YouTube as well so this is the only entrypoint)
One of the cats I share a living space with started looking for me to play with them at the end, the blob holo gesture was my attempt of saying I’ve been catnapped.
I saw something round at the top of the screen and thought that you had put that ball into orbit. I’m really impressed that Todd was able to track it. For your next game you guys need to find one of those ancient plaques with the big gold ball. It’s a lot more heavy duty.
It was much easier to track that ball at 1440 with HDR, it always comes out washed out and low contrast on direct upload to YouTube from console, but I thought I lost it or it despawned after that last crest until I saw the hole.
You can see it rolling on the rocky hill above the hole after sighte is lost the first time and then it kinda flies off over it and rolls back down towards the hole.
It really wanted to go into the hole, it made a few more attempts after we got it out.
@Mad-Hatter, thanks for moving the thread. I know I said I would wait a day and see what demand was like, but its a sensible and polite thing to do.
@sheralmyst , If you want to claim and name the planet for us, feel free to do so. Apart from me, you were the first one to get there - and I chose not to. Even if we don’t choose to make it a permanent home, there’s enough of us have bases there now that it’s a meeting point by default.
I’m not in game right now. I’m experimenting with a headset I’ve had kicking around for some time - I may be able to do voice chat soon. We’ll see.
In the meantime, it was fun to see everyone yesterday - and a bit frustrating that communication was so hard. That’s what happens when you do something unplanned and spontaneous. I hope to be better prepared the next time. At least I’ll be able to wave at people.
I debated using ECSD. I maybe could have used Atlas since we have a decal coming. But, I was also afraid it would draw attention should someone venture in this direction…I may jump some distance away and switch to Atlas Foundation or something…
I have not uploaded the moons though I did land on one to get Uranium and then scanned critters out of habit…
I have now moved to a weird gas giant system on the edge of the void. Will hang out here for a while and explore .
I noticed a star chain in the unclaimable section of the edge.
Added note, when running Nexus missions, it might be best to warp back to another part of Euclid before grabbing a mission unless MP is off. I have had players piggyback on my thrusters back to the system I was building in. They then have a front door to the system.
I like to think ETARC is a part of the “Enigmatic organisaTion known As the Rtlas FoundatiCn” as the banner puts it.
I still slap a big ol’ ECSD on my system discoveries out of habit, it’s automatic at this point.
Newcomers are welcome to join the early ARG settlers or do their own thing.
Atlas-65 is a collective umbrella of freelancers and groups that can come in and out of being, as well as home to a loosely cobbled group of folk who remember the Edison Township and occasionally make threats to be more sociable in the sim.
Atlas 65 as a system signifier can work in a few different ways too; A-65, A65, Atlas Foundation etc. Should we try settle on one and establish it or should we let it be loosey goosey and people can choose their preference.
Always a good idea, your last uploaded base will be visible to those in the nexus with you so it’s good to upload one you don’t mind stragglers ending up in before heading there.
The weekend mission on the ocean planet with white grass was nice. There was huge swaths of oceans but one side of the planet had more land and lakes to explore too.
The mission said it was for storm crystals but when I got there it wanted living pearls
I was about to delete more bases but then I remembered, in my legacy base, when they first increased the build radius and height, I built a huge structured stairs to the sky with lights at every turn and floor…
That was a few thousand pieces easily. I feel bad for the smaller bases I yeeted before realising this.
