We were just contemplating the concept. Sometime back, we had a vote on a capital system & planet name so it is only right that that decision is abided by. What this new idea gives us, is the opportunity to approach our capital in a different way. I think we still need a base somewhere as a visitor’s destination & it would be fantastic for you to be able to donate a PC capital base once we work out what we are doing so please don’t abandon all your efforts.

I’m still happy to do that. The spare game isn’t going anywhere. But if there isn’t a specific ETARC base, then I can’t replicate it.
I still think I’ll move my main base into the chain as an Embassy - but obviously if there is going to be a specific capital, then I don’t want to choose that one.
There is a time factor as well. The longer we wait, the more chance that someone else will claim the relevant systems. There’s already been some nibbling around the edges.

I have not joined in this endeavor because I am on PC. I would like to help out if @Polyphemus can get things started. I have been journeying to the center so I would need a good portal to jump thru. I still have yet to join others anyplace as my home portal is giving me blank glyphs. Worrisome.

I will arrange that pronto. I currently have a base off to one side of the chain. I can easily find you a portal for a nearby unoccupied planet. Any preferences as to type?

OK. Somewhat off the head of the ETARC chain, there is a system called Aritak-Oukov. On the map, it’s here:
You can see the chain, dropping down below it.
In the Aritak-Oukov system there’s a planet called Irezesissy Nuger. It’s a bountiful planet. Weather is generally fair, but occasional storms. There’s at least one kind of predator. The portal looks like this:
There’s a habitable base roughly 4 minutes on foot to the North West of the portal. I’ve left a comm ball so you can find it. Exocraft is faster, and keeps the predators away. This is the base:

I hear your pain @Polyphemus. And I really appreciate your enthusiasm and everything you’re doing for the ETARC hub. Keep it up!
About two weeks ago, voting was suspended on the ETARC capitol in order to consider alternatives. Maybe I missed it, but no alternatives have been submitted for consideration. I’m not opposed to designating a capitol system/planet, and only proposed an option for consideration to spark enthusiasm - and perhaps promote suggestions of other attractive systems/planets. I’m just confused at the lack of alternative submissions for the ETARC capitol.

Thanks! It may take some time for me to get there. Gotta close shop, sell off junk and I have not played for a while due to circumstances beyond my control. So I just remembered I am still a “one ship hobo”!!! If others want to jump there, go ahead, I will follow suit ASAP. Where can I find the cheapest freighter? I have units saved up and a LOT to sell.

I understand. But there are special circumstances surrounding the Firefly chain. The people who know about it have been extra careful not to explore too much, and not to claim the systems or planets. Once the systems get onto your discovery list, you’re only one button press away from ruining it for everyone.
We hope to make this the ETARC Capital. For that to work, at this stage, we mustn’t go randomly claiming discoveries.
In the case of the system I set up for @sheralmyst, it’s also important that no-one else claims the planet or the base. If they do, then she can’t.
As I said, if you want a portal; address in the area, I’m happy to find one for you.

Systems and planets can be scouted and explored without being claimed. There are many unclaimed/not uploaded systems in the chain … lets all just take a look around, anyone feel free to suggest potentials, and maybe we can begin an approach to another vote. Is there any reason to delay?

Under your Discoveries tab there is an “upload all” button. Pressing that (which you could do accidentally) will claim everything you’ve discovered as yours.
Plus, people move on. They discover things, and forget about them. Then, in an idle moment, perhaps months from now, they decide to upload all their backlog of discoveries.
There is huge potential for disaster.

I didn’t know there’s an upload all button I’ve always individually done mine so I can see all the different things I’ve discovered but I wasn’t going to go in the system I just want to get near incase it does become a hub like I said I’m really far away and don’t want to make anybody upset by discovering something I shouldn’t

On PS4, the area is already a hub. On PC, there haven’t been so many players around lately, but that seems to be picking up. It would be nice if we could have the same ETARC hub for both PS4 and PC, and that’s something I’ve been quietly working towards.
Quite honestly, if you did come here, I could do with some help.
