Corvette Expedition 19

I just accepted it as a fact of life for flying a giant ship. I think the root of my problem was that I was jumping out before I had the ship in the atmosphere. If you get in the atmosphere it places a teleport link under where it is hovering.

Yet another adventure in idiocy…

Random guy wants to group. I figure maybe he is a hitchhiker, so I say yes. Turns out random guy understands Spanish, not English, and since he is on PS he doesn’t speak at all. I’m trying to tell him I already did the ride and invite him into my ship, but he runs into his. I figure he’ll give me a ride even though I don’t need it, then we’ll do his.

Dude lands me four hours from my ship, which is when I figure out my launch thrusters need fuel. Communication is a complete bust, and I’m torn between hiking four hours or building another emergency base teleporter…which will require mining copper…planning ahead is soooooo overrated.

Meanwhile, messages in Spanish are trying to tell me…my new amigo is in some massive battle with sentinels. I figure he brought me here for a reason, like he needs help, so off I go to join the fight…but hey, it’s an unguarded sentinel pillar, I can just shut them off. Apparently that was the plan.

So…back to trying to say “I need a ride to my ship.” I run thirty units or so towards it, then lob a nav marker in that direction. Seems like a good message…he seems to be nodding and jumping up and down…I follow him into his ship…and we fly straight over my ship, accelerating all the way.

Today I learned that if you are riding with someone and they dock at a derelict freighter, your ship docks there too, even if it has no thruster fuel.

Life is good.

Possibly the only book I would recommend higher than mine. Hunter IMO the funniest writer of all time.

OMG! I’m finally out of the starter system. Starter system had aggressive sentinels on every planet or extreme weather conditions.

One day I will have to come to Arkansas and autograph that…

Ummmm…have you looked at the system you have just arrived in yet?

My thoughts exactly.

In the final rendezvous system, there’s a planet called Sosindson. There’s a sentinel pillar there, and I bult a little base right next to it. If you go there, and find the base, you can turn off the sentinels for the whole planet. The base is called “Goodbye Sentinels”.

I can’t help you with the rest of the expedition, but I can guarantee you one sentinel-free planet.

Thanks Polyphemus. I’ll look out for it.

It might be better to wait for the redux of this one!

It seems to be working well enough. I just started another new game so I could help my daughter in the expedition.

I took off from the space station to help her get the milestone and after about 10 seconds, she fell out of the ship and into space. She was able to call her emergency pickup in. We tried again and it worked the second time.

One big caution; when we did the skydive, I got attacked by sentinels and my ship was stuck in space. Can’t call it in combat. And hiding was not cancelling the alert.

I had no such issue when I did this alone. But I called my ship the moment I touched the ground

I accidentaly picked up a gravitino ball while collecting other stuff. That immediately set the sentinels swarming, and nothing would persuade them to give up. In the end, I had to warp out of the system and come back.

I decided to start a new game, and run through the expedition again, now there are some patches in place. I think there are some tricks I didn’t understand the first time round.

This whole update does seem to be slowly coming together.

Mad-Hatter: How … so … blue?

Thanks, that was very helpful, I went there as well. It made my corvette stand on one eerily long leg to park, that was funny.

It’s the blue with a touch of yellow colour in the choices with the metalic finish. (I think)

Also, the blue lights & metalic red make it ‘pop’ a bit more. Pity the design is so boxy… I’m working on collecting better bits.

I love when the corvette lands with mismatched stockings :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
