BEACON update šŸ„“

It’s these kind of nuisance glitches that always keeps me from trying out my Legacy Save for weeks after an update.

I use my ā€˜Test Pilot (ex-pirate)’ save for diving in & I then try my permadeath save, knowing full well what disaster may occur.

I have two settlements. On three occasions now I have set my overseers office to upgrade, teleported from the space station to my other settlement, then, forgetting about the upgrade, teleported back to the original settlement.

I materialise inside my office, which is still upgrading. The room is full of scaffolding. The teleporter is not there any more. The door is blocked by scaffolding on the inside, and by fence hoardings on the outside.

It turns out I can just squeeze past the scaffolding, and reach the door. Once through the door, I can jump over the hoarding, and I’m out. Someone has obviously thought about this problem.

I got into the Bar as it upgraded

Didn’t work with the dwelling.
I was well and truly entombed (temporarily).

Well, no. You can’t accidentally teleport into a dwelling, so I suppose they didn’t bother to rig it so you can escape.

Oddly enough my teleportimg in is a pretty random affair. Could be inside, outside, different building… its a lucky dip.
Not sure I’d be a fan in real life :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Ah yes, I remember nights like that myself. Thankfully, the party lifestyle is long behind me.

My Autophage settlement is proving difficult to manage. The debt is increasing, productivity is dismal and I am not getting any building opportunities…I think it is in stagflation

I’ve been wondering myself if theres some sort of trigger, or if it’s an in-game only timer. I havent had much time still to have lengthy play sessions, usually logging in, warping to the 3 settlements I have and upgrading what I can then logging off.

No movement or requests on the citizens side of things when returning to these short-burst sessions the next day.

So I decided to just warp about a bit and look for a nice planet for my 4th settlement and do the odd side-distraction to see if it was maybe a ā€œevery 2nd or 3rd warp or X amount of gametimeā€ like some other mechanics.

Still no requests from citizens to build anything.

However returning the next day after this lengthier play session, I had some requests from the 3 settlements, some visitors and building requests.

I’m still not sure what laws its governed by

I wasn’t getting any citizen requests at all. I had my original settlement and the new autophage one. Then I tried adding a new autophage settlement. It was broken (no overseer building). I left that one and tried adding a normal settlement, which was also broken, but the first two started sending requests. Occasionally when I went to the settlement they denied ever requesting anything, but most were valid.

Now with the 5.71 update the second two were fixed and I have a continuous, bordering on annoying, stream of requests. I may close one or two settlements.

My friends that I play with and I (6 people total) have all had the same bug. After the update launched all our base color schemes got reset and or randomized. When attempting to replace and fix this we are only able to use the weathered option for said material. I’m hoping this gets resolved as we are all big into base building and this has essentially ruined months (years in some cases) of progress as this issue spans over all our bases including freighters

Welcome to the forum @BORGEOISIE and remember to https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

And to clarify, my Autophage settlement gets all kinds of requests and disputes, but no building requests. I got the chance to build a landing pad and the bar then nothing…

Yes the weathering not toggling back is super annoying. Was the first thing I noticed. Then I noticed my purple base was not purple XD

Looking at the savefile data for my bases however, I can see the data is correct, the colours are correct etc, the game is just making nonsense of it when rendering the data out. (this is a ps5 save transferred to PC to analyse the data, I didnt check my main PC save but I assume it will have the same issues)

So the good news is, a patch should correct these issues since the data is still displaying correctly in the save files, it hasn’t been changed or overwritten to the new colours being displayed. At least as far as I can tell on my end.

Oh and welcome to the forum @BORGEOISIE <3

As soon as mine opened I was asked to build a giant crane arm. Are you sure your settlement isn’t a bunch of Synthetigek pretending to be autophage? Because so far it seems all theyve asked you for is commerce :stuck_out_tongue:

This all seems to be behaving as intended now after patch 5.71.

Can happily say all my settlements had requests, either building requests or disputes. After completing them I got that nice timer indicating they are preparing the next proposition. Knowing I had twenty minutes I found small buildings in need of upgrades and set them to do that while the pop prepares their elevator pitch.

Did this for all three of my settlements, left feeling contented. But I’m seeing what you were all talking about now, with trade market items being a big requirement for the a/S class building upgrades.

Which reminded me, of a feature I totally forgot about, doing a trade station scan in space now gives the option to scan for local trade deals, pointing you in the direction of some cheaper than usual trade items.

I’ve decided I’m gonna let that be my guide instead of looking through rows and columns of what product is found in what industry type etc.

Like a leaf on the wind ( * has serenity flashbacks* )

I have a Vykeen settlement I started during worlds part 2, which replaced my original settlement.

I now also have an Autophage settlement. I got this after accepting the guided mission version that arrives to an existing settlement overseer, quitting that post immediately because native australiafied weather and fauna. I used a autophage chart to find one on a waterless Titan planet that I thought could use a fishing hole

My third and newest settlement is a Gek settlement in a redacted planet.

When I arrived it was empty, nobody walking around, not a gek in sight. The weathered wood really sold the ghost town on a western frontier vibe.

Becoming overseer and building the office suddenly made the populace appear and immediately a Gek came marching out of the office.

Im not sure if this is how it’s supposed to happen but I quite enjoyed it, all it was missing was some tumbleweeds

Just need a Korvax settlement now

Oh and dear Hello Games, please add geometry to this so I can sit and hang out with this Autophage

Now when you hire say, an artist, to help keep the populace happy, you will find the artist wandering around town.
I like this addition.

Glad to know, the first newcomer I’ve had came to my already heavily populated settlement and I gave up trying to find them in the wandering crowds.

I also like how any excuse is a good excuse for a fireworks party.

Not only do I meet the people I’ve hired, I am also finding my squadron pilots wandering around town.

It would be fun to walk into the bar and see my captain and crew on shore leave

Edit: now have a Korvax, Autophage and Vy’Keen settlements. Just need to find a great Gek planet

In which way are they the same/different? Or rather, let me better not ask for spoilers…

Are the building types and choices different, or are the races just different visual styles?

Just different building materials. And each settlement comes with different traits.
My Vy’Keen settlement is quite sad.
No pets allowed
:sob:
Which leads me to a question…are we still able to undo the negative traits? It looks like we can now have 16 traits. I have not yet filled all the spots. Once I fill them, do new traits begin to replace the negative traits?
