Base Crashes when I visit it.. Help?!

Everytime I warp to this base my game crashes now. This base is kind of like my baby. I’mafraid that I am going to have to either stop going here or delete this base altogether.

I’m not sure if there is anything I can do about it. I am playing on console (PS5)… Last time I had to rebuild the files and delete and reload the game. It took a sometime to be able to play again and I was getting really frustrated. The base itself has a science lab, a classroom, a bar/lounge, living quarters, a bbq pit area, break area, a museum, some offices, foremans office, 6 landing pads, 2 separate farm areas, loading doc, guard tower and storage. If you want to check it out or have any advice on how to fix this I appreciate it.

@NMSNerd I have changed the topic category.

Can you describe in detail the steps that lead to the crash? Maybe we can find alternative ways? Is there anything else we should know? How many bases / base parts does your save contain? Is there anything specific you did prior to the crashing now happening?

When I get a moment, I can try visit your base and hopefully be able to check the base data with a save editor. Might be able to tell if the issue is with the base or not.

I would also suggest to see if you can create a backup of your save somehow, just in case.

Visiting your base now on PS5.

From the image it didn’t look like it would be an issue with parts complexity.

I arrived safely, going to wander around now and see if anything happens.

Do you have the space station TP in your teleporter list?

Maybe try teleporting to the space station instead, and then flying to your base. Does it still crash if you try this? If so, maybe try a clean install of the game. If you don’t have the Space Station in your TP list you can try visiting the planet via a portal using the glyphs.

Made it to the room where you TP exists so I don’t think it’s anything with the base, possibly some issue related to teleporting into the base or some corruption in your game install?

It’s a very nice base, I really liked the museum, and don’t worry, uninstalling the game and re-downloading it won’t delete your save progress.

If the problem continues to persist after all this, the nuclear option of course, would be to backup your saves to the cloud for all your games, and do a complete reformat/SDD repair on your PS5 to make sure it’s not an issue with bad data sectors, but that would be a total last resort of course, just chucking it out there as a final final possibility if none of the above help with the issue.

boot the PS5 into Safe Mode by holding the power button until it beeps twice, then select Repair Console Storage or Rebuild Database

Do read up on this before trying it too, to understand what will happen with your stored files and data etc and if you think its worth it (I know one of the options completely wipes, while these two mentioned above are less destructive one that keeps files but wipes temp cache stuff etc and cleans bad sectors, been a few years since I did it so do double check what these processes do)

But realistically, don’t listen to me just yet about that last one, wait for a pro like Devilin to return and do some save editor snooping on the base.

Next to what is suggested above, if the base is not an issue, you could try to clear your console’s ‘cache’:

  1. Hold the PS button on your controller.
  2. From the Power menu, select Turn Off PS5.
  3. Wait until the PS5 power indicator light shuts off.
  4. Press and hold the power button on the console until you hear a second beep to enter Safe Mode.
    This should take about 7 seconds.
  5. Connect your controller to the console using the USB cable
  6. Press the PS button.
  7. Navigate to the Clear Cache and Rebuild Database option using your controller.
  8. Select Clear System Software Cache.
  9. Select OK.
  10. Wait for the console to restart on its own.

I sincerely appreciate your response. I just got unflagged today, so I havent been able to reply.

I actually decide to delete the base and started something new, less erratic.
In the end, I had to repair and rebuild my memory on my PS5. I took someone’s advice to teleport to my freighter, save, and when I returned, I chose to start something new.

Honestly feels good to redo it. Hopefully when it’s done I can reshare it here. I have only been playing NMS for a few months, absolutely love this game. It is a nice break from FPS and some of the other games.

I used your advice to teleport… And that helped. Thank you. I was really over the top frustrated. I actually chose to delete the base and start a new. I will post a pic once I feel it is done. Started another museum… And some other spaces. Hopefully you’ll stop by when I repost. :call_me_hand:t2:
