It’s a recurring number in both NMS and waking titan :o

Just curious, where else does 16 appear in NMS? It’s been a while since I played, so I’m blanking here.

We’re referring to an NMS-specific ARG that began this week. Mods from various NMS related subreddits received packages this week from Hello Games, and each contained a cassette tape numbered out of 16. A full explanation can be found at reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame

Aside from the cassettes, is there anything else? There could be more clues hidden in the game itself

The only place I know of is in a pre-release trailer, there were active portals that the player could use like a stargate. It was a large portal with 16 smaller portals surrounding it (the portals in the game do not have smaller ones surrounding them). You can watch the trailer here: No Man's Sky: Portal gameplay trailer - YouTube The portal is at the end.

I found this interesting. There was a twitter post before NMS was released showing the Hello Games team displaying the “finished” game. If you’ll notice, there are 16 developers in the photo.

I know that at the moment this is probably irrelevant but nonetheless I will leave a link here leading to a set of images of NMS portals and monoliths (structures that provide lore) that I took when the game was released. At the time I assumed that the gameplay mechanic has already been implemented and because the developers hinted that there was going to be some sort of puzzle that you had to solve in order to unlock them I spent a lot of time trying to figure them out and see if the shape, textures, position, in-game progress or something else tied to their functionalitty. Nobody has been able to open one yet (almost a year now?) so I guess the cassets and possibly WT are related.

tl;dr: - I have probably around 200 images of portals and monoliths here in case somebody needs it in the future to solve this. Might not ever be needed though - who knows at this point.

YAY! Many heads are better than one. I have never played that. It looks cool.

The 3rd glyph in the site has the same icon in the photo.Idk if this has to do with anytihng just pointing it out

Oh man, you’re right! Any of the No Man’s Sky players available to chime in and tell me what that icon means??

They say it’s a ship icon. I’m not too sure why this looks kinda familiar though

I mean it does look pretty similar to the glyph on the website, but there’s differences as well. I’m not sure if the differences are because the website glyph is sort of small, or what…

You think they’re the same? They are pretty similar, but I dunno. I’ve a hunch that it’s not connected

I wouldn’t say the same, now that I look more closely. The No Man’s Sky icon has wings with a diagonal edge that cuts to a vertical edge, and the Waking Titan glyph looks like they’re straight triangular.

Oh yeah, good eye. I think the tip of the shuttle also looks a little different :o

Could it be a dialect? I have been looking into this in my general glyph research - meaning, over time writing has changed - kinda like fonts today - so could these be the same but different iterations due to being in two different places/times/cultures?

Or is it like a kanji where the position of the lines is very important and slight differences = different words

Hopped in game to check if they were the same.I don’t think they are,the NMS one looks like a needle but the Waking titan one is triangular
