Anyone know what I might be doing wrong as I am getting snow storms and ice inside my base…
Have snow and frost in my bedroom
I have checked my joints and looked for gaps…but can’t see any
Anyone any thoughts !

I have found that being inside a base doesn’t always stop outside environmental damage. I have often died of cold while standing inside a building. There is a radius around the base computer where this doesn’t happen, but once I’m outside that radius, it’s as though the building isn’t there.
It’s unusual for the visuals of weather to appear within a building, but it’s something that happens occasionally, - and I’ve no idea what causes it. I think it started with Atlas Rises, and it doesn’t seem to happen in the cylindrical metal buildings that came before that.
Not a lot of help, I know.

Huh. The only time I can recall being affected by weather while ‘inside’ was when I went on this binge of using archways. Reasonably enough, if you stand too close to an archway it doesn’t really protect you. I have at times seen rain under balconies and such that should have kept it off, even when the size of the balcony and the ‘gentle’ weather combined to make them safe shelter, but I don’t think I’ve seen it in a fully enclosed space.
As to the radius around the computer… I am just wrapping up a play that started with the sole purpose of closing out the final achievement (I know, I already supposedly did that, but I missed one) by surviving extreme weather to the tune of ten stars. In doing this I picked the most miserable planet in the galaxy* and built a mining base which I hooked up from over 900 units away. To extend the base radius while searching I was dotting the cliffsides with little ‘two walls and a roof’ shelters, and had no problem ducking out of the weather as long as I tucked into the one solid corner. There may be some factor in play like number of base pieces, but radius doesn’t seem to enter into it for me.
*Not like it was necessary. Maybe I was punishing myself for missing the unchecked box on the list. At any rate, this Atlas forsaken dirtball is almost all cliffs, at least 70% of which can’t support standing. Couple that with firestorms that reduce visibility to just about zero and this was way harder than it needed to be.

I’m not sure if this still happens in the game, but a few years ago you could get rain and cold temperatures inside buildings if the buildings were too tall. A single story building was fine, but a 3 level building would not offer any protection from weather.

Somewhere on this forum is the thread where I posted about the cool base I built…without realizing it was on the spawn point for a flock of flying fart fish. It was pretty much constantly filled with a cloud of blue fog.

I know some cuboid rooms are not weatherproof/ underwaterproof & have also found some manually placed floors/roofs don’t always keep the weather out.
I have a suspicion that altering the camera position/orientation during placement of ‘faulty’ components may have something to do with it but I could not guess WHY that would matter.
I have also noticed that sometimes the actual decor inside the structure may influence a weather breach but haven’t investigated this enough to elaborate further though.
It seems kind of random…

Thanks for the reply… I am trying to fix the weather prob by putting windows in the stone windows and archways…it sort of helps but I still get a wispy white wind flowing through…

This base is only one story high…but on an e stream ice planet…maybe when it is cold it is very very cold and there is no helping it !

I also find you have to fill in an archway with a triple window t secure the weather but in this particular base that didn’t work x

I am in creative so don’t share the horrors of life or death problems but still I am disconcerted by the icy wind whipping passed me as I sit on the sofa or in the kitchen !
