Voice Recordings Deadline May 22

We already have lots of languages. What we need now is numbers.

Thank you so much! Now my echo will be trapped in a simulation!

@Polyphemus How many numbers are we talking about? We need 100 sentences… how many left more or less?

Copy that, friend

We need another 80

As long as we have 33 unique people, I can just spam the whole thing to get the numbers up. I guess we’re around 10-15 people right now?

Eight contributors so far. Some people have promised to send something tomorrow. This is why I wanted everyone to send three - but, due to confusion, some people only sent one.

Feel free to reply to them and ask for more. We can be cheeky on this one

Yes, I know. And if it comes down to the line, I’ll fake it. But I’d rather do it by the rules if I can, and we have until Tuesday. See what happens tomorrow.

Im going to record now. I speak Hungarian. Should ve done in an hour.

Excellent. Do me a favour - either record three separate files, or leave about a 2 second gap between sentences. I don’t speak Hungarian, and it can be a little difficult to tell where one sentence ends, and the next begins.

I did my part and followed the instructions on the Satcom-70 page; recorded myself reading a random sentence from a random wiki article. Used the clyp.it site to record.

Pretty easy to follow instructions, though I do understand and appreciate what you’re trying to do here by making it easier for everyone.

Nothing like recording yourself speaking a foreign language to make you realize how white you sound
Me right now:

Good, so far. If you’ve only recorded one sentence, please record another two, then attach the recorded files to an email, and send it to TooWeak@virginmedia.com

We need to collect 100 sentences, and send them in a single post.

(edit)

We can’t use it while it’s sitting in some unknown account. At least give us a link to the file. If I can play it, and hear it, I should be able to grab it. Otherwise, we can’t use it.

Thank you.

Received. Double thank you.

(second edit) I can’t understand a word you’re saying - but you’ve got a great voice. You could have been a radio presenter.

I linked this thread to all of the Spacing Guild and a bunch of other people I know on PSN. Hopefully that will get us more submissions.

Thanks Mac.

With all due respect, the more I think about this, the more I’m confused.

They’re asking for everyone to submit one recorded sentence. They need a minimum of 100 samples, with at least 33 unique voices, and at least 5 different languages… from unique uploaders! That’s why the little red asterisk next to the Discord ID indicates it is required.

Did everyone not see the form???

edit: I don’t think it meant ā€œsubmit all 100 samples in a single fileā€, but rather ā€œall of you each submit your sample in a single fileā€.
