I am hosting an invitational fishing tournament at my base. It is open to any Atlas CSD members, who can participate by visiting and expending 100 bait of their choice any time in March.

PRIZES AWARDED FOR:
VARIETY: bring in the most different kinds of fish
VALUE: largest total value, in units
TOTAL WEIGHT: points awarded based on sizes of fish caught, five for small, 7 for medium, 10 for large. Note, AFAIK water at my base is not deep enough to catch colossal fish, please do not dig holes in my bay to deepen the water. If someone somehow catches a colossal fish, twenty points.
The main building has upper and lower fishing decks. You are welcome to fish off the roof, though I personally donât like to be that far above the water. Please do not leave empty beer cans laying around.
Transporter at the refinery will take you to the head of Thumper Point Pier. I find the mineral extractor annoying myself, but it is a good place to launch a skiffâŚand at times when I have set aside the annoyance I have caught some good fish from the pier.
The only Hirk zealot is me, and I am a sort of âgo along and get alongâ zealot.
The butterflies make pretty good neighbors, so I generally leave them alone. No bonus for pestering them, unless they are in the house. If they are breaking in while I am away maybe some reward outside the contest is in order.
I stare at the water and relaxâŚand can burn through a hundred baits in (I would guess) well under an hour. Fishing in NMS, to me, is much the same thing it is in real lifeâŚan excuse to be with the water.
You only get the weight of a catch when itâs a new personal record so unless I beat my own records I canât record the weight. Iâm sure one of the catches will eventually so Iâm not too worried there, just something I didnât think to foresee.
When you say multiple entries, up to three, is this three of your best catches or is this three attempts using 100 bait?
And the weight is a totalâŚand probably better described as âsize.â You get five points per small fish, seven per medium, and ten per large. So the declared âweightâ of individual fish doesnât matter. This is what prompted me to allow multiple entries, because if you try to win this by focusing on catching large fish it could reduce the overall variety and âcost youâ the prize for that, where if you are trying to catch the widest variety of fish you will likely be spending part of your bait in the shallows actively seeking the small fish.

@Timsup2nothin Cant respond with text on ps5, but Iâve used 50 bait so far, 2-3 def got away I think. my excuse is the oscar special distracting me Controller is handy for fishing prompts via vibration feedback, dont need to look at screen necessarily.
Taking a break for coffee and a smoke (these specials usually run for four hours) and enjoying the view from the couch

Telling my other obsessive dog that no matter how long she went on the âsingle bark every third stepâ march she was not going to make dinnertime come any sooner.
and being amazed at the idea of having a guest.
Which accounts for how I failed to reel in on like the third cast with my gifted bait.
This can happen if there is ground above where youâre fishing. This screen is a good example, the foam next to us is being created by the cliff beside us which tapers over us as it gets higher, if I fish anywhere it covers (which is most of that initial foam area) I will not get a depth reading.
Same thing happens when cave fishing, when gas giant fishing i had a big sun roof dug above where I was casting the line while I hid in a covered part from the storms, to get the depth reader to behave.
