I’m all done with my fishing trip. It took me two trips. At the end of the first trip, I saved at the space station. When I went back into my save, @Timsup2nothin jump scared me, running at me as soon as I got out of my ship. Sorry for the lack of a good way to communicate.
My Bait, I know nothing of fishing in NMS. I read @toddumptious post but retained nothing.
So it took a while, but I have this figured out.
The lower left corner of the HUD, where the depth finder displays, is maintained by the environmental protection. On a planet like mine, with blissful weather, the environmental protection goes inactive and this part of the HUD goes dark. Tap ‘H’ and the entire HUD will appear briefly, including the depth finder.
I do not know the console equivalent of ‘tap H’ but I am sure that there is one.
Good to know but irritating. 
All submitted catches have been scored. Participants please check the scoring of your catches. Let me know if you find any discrepancies. Long about Monday midnight California time scores will be considered final, even if they’re wrong. Winners will be announced on Tuesday.
Even though there’s now a possible update scheduled for the big fishing results announcement day (how rude of them to steal your thunder:P ) I’m still very much looking forward to seeing how everyone got on 
I sort of guessed when Toddumptious showed up throwing bionic lures around like grains of sand that he had an inside track, but other competitors did manage to press him.
In variety, we had entries ranging from 21 to 27, with Toddumptious winning with 27.
In size, we had entries ranging from 535 to 611, with Toddumptious winning with 611. Notably, without his second entry he would have lost this one.
In value, we have a bit of a blowout. Entries ranged from 176K to 1,504K. Toddumptious showed the power of the bionic lure here with the top two entries.
Winner of the Tournament Director’s Special Award made their mark by teaching me something about the tournament map boundaries. Congratulations @Sir_oops.
He commented that his best catches came from fishing off the crystals sticking out of the water. It turns out that the crystals near the top edge of the map have a depression in the sea floor between them, and it was possible to catch colossal fish in the boundaries after all. I built a new platform there which I am calling Shark’s Gate and it is now available to fish from.
Anyone looking for a relaxing fishing resort is always welcome. Perfect weather, numerous dedicated access points, and the possibility of running into a friend to converse with (or at least gesticulate like monkeys at each other) make it a one in a universe place.
Prize winners message me about when you want to pick up your prizes. Despite being the struggling poor in this crowd, I think I came up with something you will be able to appreciate.
I caught a Child of Helios. I feel at one with the NMS strings of cosmic harmony.

Whoops! I re-read the rules and I clearly was outside the map on many casts. 
And I submitted evidence too.

I dunno. The one you sent a picture of I recognized. It’s on the map, near the top edge. If you were casting straight from there towards the edge you might have gotten off the map. Not sure how far you can cast in the scale of the map. I did try casting from the top of that rock towards the deeper water and couldn’t reach it. You can reach it, barely, if you stand on the lower crystal that juts up right next to it.
That’s the rock from your picture. There’s multiple places along that deck that are easy reach of the deep water. That deck, of course, wasn’t there when you were.
Can I veto two of my wins to the next person? I don’t know how to accept such things gracefully

Last night a Nexus mission landed me on a really rugged planet, which left me thinking. In a couple months I might host a poker run, if I can work out the logistics. So start tuning up your exocraft for hard core off roading.
