The ARG has just stalled?

I don’t believe that we have seen a full release of the atlas pass.

There was indeed an email received on August 7/8 (us/europe) stating “First, we’re pleased to announce that all 10,000 Level 4 Atlas Passes are in production”.

However, there was also an email received on July 23 stating “Along the way, you’ve unlocked the first 2500 Level 4 Atlas Passes”.

As you’ve said yourself @Polyphemus, Alice & Smith choose their words very carefully. I don’t think this is an exception. And I find 1956/2500 to be a far more acceptable number. I also do not believe any more action will be required of us to get them. My best guess is the first 2500 were sent as a separate order to the printing company, and so they were finished and mailed earlier. That simple.

I agree that not all the passes have been sent out, but I disagree it is because some of the passes were finished earlier. Remember, the letter from Gall Benedict behind the 10th glyph password screen says that all 10,000 passes have been printed and that “you” meaning Elizabeth Leighton, the recipient of the letter, will have them in time for the next phase.

So all 10,000 passes have been produced, and Elizabeth Leighton has received them, to send out to the CSD members at the appropriate time.

They may have said that, but it still doesn’t explain why only a third of the passes have been reported and none of the PB/PT designation have been received.

If anything, they are planning to send out the others a little delayed because they have a different hex code on the front which gives a clue we will need for the next glyph.

Careful @zsigmond

@MacForADay my guess was just that, and a hypothetical. I do not claim to know what A&S have planned. I was simply stating the evidence for my claim of a partial release.

Also, the document says “We have finished processing 10,000 passes as per your request. You should have them in time for the next phase.”

That’s what people said about “phoenix”. Was that ever used?

No, Phoenix hasn’t been used to solve anything yet.

I for one have no problem waiting for the next phase. Granted, the pacing may not be ideal (the first phases were never well structured chronologically in my opinion), but I am more focusing my expectation on the update itself. I consider any ARG stuff to purely be “gravy” for the “steak”(update)

Remember last summer Mac. During all the ARG the maximum seen people was during the Twitch event with “only” 5000 people (at the same time, i agree, maybe more during the 48h) so that’s not totally stupid to say that less than 10.000 people were “fully involved” in the ARG, the rest are lurkers.
So having only 2000 passes reported is, statistically, normal.

Concerning the PB/PT designation, there is a reason, we just don’t know which one, like many things during the ARG, until they want we understand

Well i see one of the PR people from HG is back answering question on the Steam forum, the last time anyone done that was at Atlas Rises

So we ask the questions, maybe they might give us a little info

If that were true, there wouldn’t be several NMS Youtubers who were deeply involved in the ARG and many of my friends who were as well who have not received passes.

That links sends me to a list of threads, and I can’t find where the PR guy has posted recently. Can you link to a specific thread where he has said something this year?

Sorry yeah it was Shanie from HG, she was posting during the Atlas Rises updates along with HG Hohbes, and now they are back answering questions

this was link i meant to post

I’ve heard, this is an approach that some people use to save own time and to make others waste it by bringing them up to speed: jump in and make an allegation - someone will react and explain you everything.

I hate to disappoint you, but that post was from January last year. Although I understand with 2018 still being somewhat fresh and someone else replying, making the same assumption of it being ‘recent’. ShanieGrant has actually not posted in NMS since March 8th last year.

I didn’t say that all passes are sent, many will arrive in the coming weeks i guess. But be sure that not all passes (when all will be sent out) will be reported on the Google doc.

If my theory is right, only 50% of the passes have been sent out so youtubers, your friends ant some other (and something like 200 PB/PT designation) still have good chance to get one. Why is it delayed ? I don’t know but there is probably a good reason.

I don’t believe in a different hex code as a clue.

It has been six months since 1.3 released and even though they spent a good month or two patching 1.3 I was at least hoping the ARG would be moving more in preparation for the next update as WT ran for a couple of months prior to 1.3. With the dead drop in January it looked like it would be back up and running but nothing since. Would be good to hear something.

There is a contiguous block of serial numbers that are missing from the AP4s received. That block represents about 36% of total. In addition, many countries in Asia, such as China, Korea, and Vietnam have no reports of AP4s received.

We know that the passes delivered to the US were drop shipped to a place in New York state and redelivered from there. Maybe they sent the remaining 3600 or so passes to a remailer in Asia and they had some problems in customs. That might explain why they would hold things up until everyone got their passes.

It wouldn’t make sense to hold out for passes…the ARG is specifically planned to tie in with game updates…those wouldn’t be delayed because international mail is terrible. If anything they’d adjust the puzzles to require fewer passes but that shouldn’t be true at all…everyone who signed up on time has a digital V4 with designation and CSD ID…there’s zero reason to wait for physical passes to be delivered…none.

The Chinese authorities have probably arrested everyone on the mailing list. Can you imagine trying to explain the ARG to the local Red Army Commissar?
