so cool!
Here is a nice collection of old trees.
You can make acid out of those with mordite ya know. Then you’re one step closer to liquid explosive
Makes me really want to reinstall The Witcher 3
Yeah. I am supposed to be getting rid of stuff but I found these at a flea market, 75% off and I could not pass them up
The set is Lee Reynolds from Vanguard Studios. Mass produced in the 60s and 70s but still hand painted none the less (none actually painted by Lee)
And the long painting was sold by a local artist just up the road. Has $200 on the frame. Title Indian Summer and was gifted to someone as a wedding present in 1967
A lost family heirloom. So sad. I could not let them collect dust any longer.
You can’t beat a good set of encyclopedias. They are so handy.
Prepping to repair the frame and clean the Indian Summer painting
Hmmm…is that a fingerprint?
And my phone darkens the painting if I turn on my lamps and it is completely cloudy and dreary here today but, here she is, where she belongs, Indian Summer 1967 by Jane E Boers
It looks really bright in RL. When I turn on the lamp on the left, the light hits the highlights in the painting and because she used a lot of medium, they are very dimensional. This causes the lamp to help the trees cast actual shadows.

Recent find while on my daily walk.
Quite delicate & presumably fairly short lived, given I hadn’t noticed them previously.
so cool. They look very delicate
New PC/Study/TV/game room is almost complete. Just need coax run for TV and help moving my desk and TV stuff.
This is the first redecorating I have done in 17 years. Never intended to do it again but I am having so much fun now. Scratches an itch I have ignored for years
Are those crosstitch on the left wall?
Cool table lamp too.
I’m a bit envious of your comfy room. My place is pretty small so with a family who likes ‘stuff’, it feels a bit full these days…& almost non of it is mine
Not crosstitch but it would be awesome if they were.
Those are flea market finds. They look to be shell and something… Very shiny. I really liked them and had to have them. I will try to get a better pic…
The lamp is new and a WalMart special but has a mid mod vibe which I love and it came in muted gold which I also love.
Ok. Gold paint and paint over shell and something…idk…Asian feeling. Neither one is signed or if they are, it is under the backing.
Both seem to be painted on the glass and then placed over whatever is underneath
Thanks for the close ups. They are really cool.
Finally secured myself a booth for selling. I decided not to go with the store the friend of mine has opened. It is already packed with stuff and she is trying to avoid paying taxes on people selling in her store so she required cash only or we had to set up our own PayPal etc ..account and provide a QR code.
This is a small town. Not many people would be prepared for that. And carrying bigger amounts of cash is not something many people do any more.
So I switched gears.
I like the booth option better anyway. There are lots of little projects I would like to do and sell. Having my own space gives me more options.
One of my favorite creations was an old porcelain top off a pie safe which I attached to an old sewing machine base I drug out of the woods. The kind with one big foot pedal. And it still worked. Cleaned it up and painted the base a vintage blue green color. Made a really cute table or kitchen island. Sold within a week.
I love doing stuff like that.
So now I am excited!
Back to painting (acrylics)
Had been staring at this since a year or so now, not too often feeling the itch to continue …
Here’s the black light hitting it … Not all that great, but not too surprising with it being far from finished.
So I have been scratching recently, that itch. Worked on it some more and happy to have a good amount of proper paint to work with. Still using a lot of the cheap old stuff though, treating this canvas as a test of sorts. It seems to be working out alright, but it's hard work, or at least feels that way. I should probably just ditch the crap paint, and get some decent brushes too.
Reworked the planet, but I should have not tried that glow around it. Got a good layer of dark black now, which turns out really hard to photograph. Has a lot of glare, even for real I’d have to look at it from the side to properly see.
Worked on the background universe some more, finding it hard to get misty/cloudy, but adding several layers helps somewhat. As said, a lot of hard work with bad cheap paint/brushes. It’s kinda ok-ish though … enough for now. Took me several days, a couple of hours at a time to be satisfied enough. Got a few things covered in preparation for stars.
Stars done, planet reveal!
Ah, and of course the lower planet, which I think I’ll work on some more.
Leaving the ship in place for now, as I have just done those stars. Will match the negative paper in place, to then start work on it the coming days. Really curious to see how that’ll turn out. Happy so far, been great getting practice in again. Will update along the way.
Looking forward to seeing the finished work @DevilinPixy
I made a jellyfish.
