The Astronaut asset was hidden in the files since day one. It may have been some attempt to create a character model before they decided there wasn’t enough time to make it for the original launch of the game.

I remember there was a comical astronaut asset in the game day one that looked like a comical iteration of the Joe Danger character…that was no doubt just a placeholder though.

Yeah when I started playing games long ago I liked modifying save files of various older games to get funny results (Invincible Units in Strategy Games, Infinite money in other games Etc.) But then I played Minecraft and was fed up with editing saves already (Or maybe I just couldn’t figure out how to do it with Minecraft 
) In any case I learned a better way to play games I decided I would back up the games every session or so and if I died I would go back to the last save I made. This has led me to a wealth of creative endeavors that has made my game play in other games much better (Space Engineers was the latest one I used the revert to save if you die system)
With NMS I do take advantage of the Respawn and fix your stuff at times but the Hacking files is off the table because it tends to not only Weird out the Game but also isn’t fun when playing by ones self.
I like to play by myself a lot then when I have built enough stuff up on a world show people what I have been doing Legitimately (Without Mods, Without Hacking the Saves, Often with help from someone on other platforms if possible).
So when I heard they were editing in QuickSilver It didn’t bother me at all. I don’t play their game and I loved doing the Test Event it was fun to watch all the players as Orbs and being able to pause the game
I got the Mindblown Emote and the Gold Traveler Statue which will be used in my Next Video of NMSWU hopefully coming out in a few months once I get through playing the 1.5 Next Update enough

You just msde me realise something while bringing up that old placeholder model… There’s still hope for a Joe danger themed helmet and/or emote/decal/etc as a community prize event
