Thats just wimp-lo, we trained him wrong… As a joke.
Have not seen this movie in half my lifetime (16 years or so?) but damn is it quotable and deeply ingrained in my noggin.

After a weekend of looking into VR and after last night’s @CobraTV podcast, I have decided to wait for more info on the Valve Index
Valve Index® - Upgrade your experience - Valve Corporation
Interesting note: according to rayrod, rivers are possible in nms. He says he has already done it.
Technically I’ve already seen something resembling rivers. You sometimes see what looks like riverbeds in dry planets too.
On wet planets these can be filled with water. But it’s not really flowing water, or going from point A to point B.
What I mean is: they are coincidental, not really as a normal river would flow, starting small ending big flowing into a sea or lake.
Edit: more explanation
This point came up in the subcast last night so I mentioned it. A number of interesting points in that subcast are very interesting.
As for VR, one guy mentioned the Galaxy Map…imagine opening that up and swiping around and zooming in and out.
I am hoping we get more info on it soon. I have never been prone to motion sickness so I hope I can handle VR. The VR I have tried up to now was not a problem but it also was not full VR. I have a brother who couldn’t even play Mario when it went 3D with the N64, lol.
Thanks for the Mesa driver info. My son looked into it. He did not realize AMD deals directly with Mesa. He now has GL 4.5 on his laptop. (Not sure when he is going to get to my pc…) He also found out Nvidia does not work with Mesa?..Glad I have AMD graphics. Now, Linux does not work with VR? At least not natively. So I am glad I am dual booting. Of course, none of this may be an issue if we find out HG has reworked NMS for better performance…
AMD works best with Mesa drivers
Nvidia works best with Nvidia proprietary driver
You know, it kind of surprises me that nobody mentioned yet what utter nightmare inventory managment might possibly be in VR…
Well VR is never likely to be an issue for me, but I was wondering how you would go about refueling the shields and weapons in your ship whilst in combat?
Or it could be very interesting. I am picturing a point a drag system as a holographic type display.
I think the same thing could be done for reloading/ refueling , which would be just as interrupting as it is currently during combat.
The things I would like to see are NMS multitool and spaceship controllers.
As another nice little surprise, I noticed the alien NPCs were actually walking around the space station themselves.
What?! Nice surprise indeed
YES! Here’s to hoping they also do other stuff!
So… from what I gather, they added blinking as a means of motion in VR. I get why, I just hope it won’t be around without VR. Can’t imagine the game being that much fun if you’re just zipping over planets…
My favorite line from the Engadget story
Asteroids loom like mountainsides, and flying between them is smooth, thrilling and profoundly peaceful. Planets sit, suspended in the ink of space, impossibly large. Everything is frightening and gorgeous in equal measure, shining a light on the incomprehensible size of the universe, the planets, the space rocks, the ship, yourself.
I don’t think it will be, and one of the vids or articles (I forget which) confirmed normal motion as well
I flew to the nearest space station and walked around using normal locomotion rather than teleportation. That felt great too, smooth and fluid in a way a lot of VR games haven't seemed to master.
One article stated there would be several ways offered to move around. I know some were concerned it would be teleport only.
The PS version can use the move controllers or the dualshock.
I am super excited!
Don’t worry Sean. So far so good!
Interesting quote from the eurogamer article:
It constantly surprises us how interested people are in it - the kind of numbers that Next sold last year, a triple-A game would have been happy with those numbers. It’s been very successful for us. I don’t know how many more big exciting things we can think of - I thought when we did Next that was kind of all of them, then you talk to the team and one person’s working on VR, one’s working on this crazy online thing, and you’re like, okay, we’re still excited about this. And I think that’s the metric for it. We’re doing Last Campfire as well, that’s an exciting thing, and we’re starting on something new as well - which is like a big, ambitious, silly thing. We won’t be talking about that for a long, long time - there’s a lot going on in the studio. And No Man’s Sky is a big part of it.
We need to get Mr. Murray one of these. I could probably use one too, actually.
Maybe they have them in plaid
I am waiting for more info on the Valve Knuckles. I hope they are available before BEYOND because these are the VR controllers of my dreams.
