No Mans Sky on PSVR and Steam VR

I wonder how soon, soon is and how special it must be considering what we already know.

First of all, the VR mode will certainly not be required to play. Second, I understand some simply don’t like VR and that is fine. I play videogames for new experiences and gaming in VR has been a new way to play besides better graphics.

How things will control in VR is a concern. More than any other way to game, there are a lot of options, but none of them are ideal. The Move controllers lack of a thumbstick is a big issue, but having a pair of virtual hands is really neat in VR. The standard DS4 controller is okay, but does not add much to the sense of VR immersion. The AIM controller might be the best option (still miss having hands to move around though) as you have all the buttons of the DS4 controller, but can aim it and how cool would it be to feel like you have a Multi-tool in your hands?

Even as a PSVR owner and fan of it, I tell my friends it’s a supplement to regular gaming, NOT a complete substitute.

I don’t suppose we could have an option on controllers?

I would be shocked if we don’t get at least a couple options. Given the choice, I’d use my AIM controller most of the time.

Hello everyone! Just had to sign-in to say…

YES YES YES YES YES YES!!! Surely the only VR game I will ever need… that is until NMS2.0 arrives of course!

P.s. I don’t think anyone needs to worry about controls, I’m sure they will allow for either ds4 or move controllers - the latter providing the best possible immersion. Also on the subject of quality, PSVR visual fidelity IMO is limited because of the quite crap screen inside (compared to the oculus or vive). Sure a PSVR MKII will be better but how long for that? Anyone with a PS4, now is the time to just get it if you can.

The PSVR screen is great and some would argue even better than the Oculus.

I’m pretty much with ya on all that. I also have to worry about vertigo and I’m not going to chance increasing those chances because that’s not fun.

I await the third branch also. I’m hoping for more extreme planets, terrain, animals/birds and weather!!!

As a huge NMS since day 1, I really do hope for number 3 in this update!!!

Having to rebuild your base after a tornado could be fun.

Confirmed. Part 3 of BEYOND brings working toilets and pets. jk

The first two (online, VR) will make the experience better. Now I hope the third one adds more of a purpose and/or urgency to things. I’d hope it to at least make things seem more lively as in more dynamic features/NPC’s. I’m thinking a dangerous enemy’s looming presence is what the game needs.

Hopefully, the VR integration will be compatible with extra sensors that you can attach to your body to simulate walking. Can you imagine actually walking on a planet on a 1:1 scale? Thats what i am looking forward to.

Do you have a planet sized living room?

Also, if I felt the urge to go hiking, I’d go hiking… Arguably, that qualifies as ā€œwalking on a planet in 1:1 scaleā€.
Also, planets in NMS aren’t 1:1, exactly.

The fact he made this tweet on my birthday just makes it extra cute :3

It just occurred to me, our iterations that exist in the XB1 sim will not have this as part of the beyond update. Those poor travellers. I guess they’re the contingency plan to save the rest of us if we get trapped like those poor test subjects in season two of Waking Titan :smirk:

The oculus rift has Xbox one streaming capability, though that still needs a pc. No clue whether nms is supported with that or not though.

Ive been playing Skyrim VR with a program called Natural Locomotion. I have these old PS3 Move controllers that I strapped to my legs. Its a little awkward, but they translate the motion of me walking in place in the game as forward, back or sideways motion.
Its really fun, so I hope that Hello Games allows using extra sensors to work the same. then Ill walk back to my base and take a nap!

That will be a LOT of walking…I melee/boost everywhere…so I am afraid
