Release for experimental 13407450 (Windows) SteamDB
Edited to include all 3 latest updates
4.50.0.35-beta.5
This is just a first release for the Omega update. Due to changes in the structure of the saves, it’s not perfect but I want to give you something you can already work with. Consequently, there are some downsides (see below) that I’ll try to solve in the future, but until further notice it will be like this.
IMPORTANT:
- Unlike previous versions, this one drops support for older saves and will only work with those from the Omega update and up.
- Expedition saves will only work if you started it from an existing save and even then, it is only possible to edit the primary save data.
- If you try to load an incompatible save, it will crash!
Less important notes:
- Saves will still be displayed as Echoes
- The collections feature is not working at the moment
Notable changes in this release:
- Updated to the new save file format
- Updated mapping and database to game version 4.50
- Added new freighter, multitool, and ship types
Full changelog here.
This second release for the Omega update fixes a few reported bugs. The notes made for the first one are still valid.
Notable changes in this release:
- Crash when a stored path is not available (current, detected platform, stored defaults)
- Crash when using one of the new types (
Couldn't find any enum member that matches the string ...
)Full changelog here.
For latest Steam Experimental 13499678
I only have experience using a NMS save editor for copying/pasting base data to use in a base editor, so if anyone can answer or help with my question that would be greatly appreciated <3
I want to bring one of my savestates from PC over to my console save file.
I know with NOMNOM and some other apps you can edit a ps4 save. I was thinking it might be possible to just copy a savestate from PC in nomnom and then use it again to paste a savestate into a PS4 savefile.
Does anyone have experience doing this or know if theres an easy way or tool within nomnom to achieve this?
My next question is, uploading this to cloud from ps4 once edited should make it accessible on ps5 once I set it up?
I know ps5 saves are not accessible so I’m thinking this is the route I will have to go in order to get my PC main on to console.
Failing that I’d be happy to just edit the ps4 save file so I can activate the expeditions I missed on console (my ps4 has no controller, hence no console nms activity, also hoping dualsense will work with ps4 when ps5 gets here so i can do this XD)
edit:
Requirements:
Patience
“Save Wizard for PS4 MAX” pre-installed on your computer, with the PlayStation profile already registered in the app. (Paid Subscription to Save Wizard required)
I have the first, maaaybe not the second. I think I’ll wait a while before I go messing around with save files
Wow! I have no idea on the transfer from PC to PS5, but I am very interested in the answer myself.
Still not sure if complete save file conversion is possible, but editing yr save to be as close to yr PC one certainly is.
However getting it off of ps5 is the tricky part because you will need a ps4 as well as some third party software you need to pay a subscription too.
Basically upload from ps5 to cloud, download and sync to ps4 version. Export save to USB. Insert in pc. Use third party software to make the file editable, then use nomnom or a similar nms save editor to make your changes. Then you use the third party app to make it a ps4 compatible file again. Pop it back on USB. Back on to ps4. Upload for ps5 conversion from within game on ps4. Back to ps5. Boot up game and download new save file.
It’s a lot of steps so you’d only wanna do this once every now and then. To try keeping it in perfect sync cross save style would be an ordeal every time.
It’s the paid sub that’s keeping me from trying this.
I decided to just download my ps4 save that was on cloud dating from April 2020.
Started playing new expedition with this old save before I realised I fucked up. I played that save into 2021 and did the first season and a half of expeditions . Just didn’t have psPlus anymore so my cloud save was way out of date.
Now my console save has no expeditions XD
So I’m definitely gonna have to do this at some point. I have no ps4 controller so can’t turn it on to update saves on its end so save editor will get me those lost items back, but I also need the controller to use the ps4 to even do this.
I gave my controllers to someone I don’t speak to anymore really so its bite that bullet or get a cheap one somewhere.
If you want to give it a try here are the step by step instructions for NOMNOM and editing ps5 save
Should work fine with latest Steam Experimentals 13534759, 13546151, and 13546776
I am familiar with either save editor, knowing NomNom has the option to do transfers between platforms. Both can handle PS4 saves, but it requires the paid tool you mention later.
However, the Omega update has also changed the arrangement of Save Data quite a bit, which caused both editors (NMSSE and NomNom) to break. NMSSE appears to have recovered quickly, functioning fine again. NomNom is only partly fixed and updated taking a while longer to fully work again. I suggest you be patient, or at least very careful for now for that matter, when it comes to ‘transfer’.
With transfer, the data is more or less the same, but what is most important, is the assignment to various things in-game, like bases, to the owner data, which includes your Username, LID, UID, platform assignment, etc. Usually in a few sections, repeated at times (bases), but manageable if you know what you are doing. You have to be careful with it when making changes or ‘transferring’ platform when it comes to those sections in the data.
Only if you are in fact playing the PS4 version of the game on your PS5. If you upgraded/updated to play PS5 version, there is no ability to do this anymore the way you imagined.
Yeah, I have no experience with PS4/PS5, but I do know that Save Wizard is a paid tool to allow PS4 decryption required to save edit in the first place. There is no real alternative sadly enough, as they try their best to keep all they know secret to make good money. I am personally not a fan of their approach, but it’s up to you in the end. Do however be aware, that functionality of said tool with PS5 is likely not possible (yet)
Ah more info, but yeah, I am not too familiar with the console side of things, and not keeping up-to-date with it much either to be honest. Do however pay attention to the PS4 and PS5 differences mentioned. What works for PS4 as said in my previous reply, does not necessarily work with/for PS5 too. Both versions are quite different and kept well separated.
Thanks for your advice, I was thinking some manual editing of ID’s might need to be tinkered with if attempting a full “transfer” from PC to PS4 save and was hoping there might be a quick “replace all” tool built in. I’ll just use a word processor if it comes to it.
I’ve come to the realisation now that all I really want is my Expedition progress to line up on both platforms and get back the loss of progress from being somewhat console-less for 3 years, so i’ll just be editing the ps4 files unlocks, no messy copying in of a PC playthrough (though I will be tempted to at least try this when I get the software, for shins and giggles).
For now I’m gonna hold off, having a lot of fun rediscovering old bases and seeing what happened to the ECSD Star Chain after the platform universes merged on this old save (pre atlas rises save)
A planet in distress you say? Gonna let that one ring out to voicemail…
I built a base on the portal to the old ETARC HQ planet. Hope it shows. It is a ruin/temple/pilgrimage site.
At least I assume we pop in at the same portal. No idea really
Release for Steam experimental 13870360 and Steam Public 13870592
Made a quick fix mod to enable shuttle scrapping / fabrication till HG patches those bits in:
Okay, I’m starting to get a lil obsessed with the fabricator
I say replace since the list with possible ship types is hard coded by HG, but I feel like people wouldn’t mind hot swapping out shuttles to quickly customize another type of ship that isn’t available.
Whenever I see Shuttle hate I always think of Sad Zoidberg
