When NMS was newly released, I sent them a suggestion — a way to export any planet as 3D printable diorama. (E.g. a web site where you could enter a planet’s coordinates and it would generate a file containing a specimen of the terrain shape, the player’s starship, settlements, flora, and fauna typical for that planet.

Of course I didn’t have a clue about 3D printing and thought, if HG can render a planet, arranging a printable diorama can’t be much different…… I didn’t know that transparent water, and colours would be an issue, and that branches and all things that stick out would need supports… I maybe thought “birds need to be printed separately” but I didn’t think of supports for ship wings or whatever… :person_facepalming:

I’ve seen some ships printed, has any one managed a diorama?

I’ve not seen an entire diorama 3D printed. Captain Steve used 3D printed ships in handmade scenery. I was going to find a video where he shows one but oh my! He has soooo many NMS videos.
