WooHoo! (dancing)
This is exactly the app I’ve needed. I want to go to the rim and warp around exploring a lush galaxy far, far away. This app lets you progressively narrow down where you want to go.
As the the above images from @sheralmyst show, the app shows glyphs for known systems, Atlas Stations, Black holes, system orbits, etc. Drool.
Now I just have to complete the thorough backup of my old PC so I can set up the new one and resume exploring! 
(Of course, home-work will encroach big time on my free time. 
And I sooooo wish that No Man’s Sky had a way to see (similar to this 3-D display) where you were in 3-D in the galactic map. I’m not fond of the current flat map with small up and down lines to denote relative Z-axis distance.
Related, I really want to have a feel for X, Y, and Z aiming as I move the map view with my mouse.

Seems cool 
Mainly I was looking for a tool where I could look up, what’s the closest planet where I find resource xyz, where was that funny pet, where was that colour scheme for screenshots, where did they sell star silk?
We can fill in descriptions? (I hope he has anti-spam filters.) I’m not good at writing stories about knights, as in the example, but if there’s good resources or something interesting/funny happened (such as “Ironically waved at passing ship. Enthusiastic trader lands and I begrudgingly buy a flower arrangement.”) I could add a note or description to my discoveries.
What would be our “civilisation” name for discoveries, ETARC?

I have been using ATLAS CSD. At one point we used ECSD. It would be nice to be official about it. How about a poll?
Let’s base it off the decal we finally got from HG.

As with everyone else, dreamt of an app like this for a long time. Or some form of data dump and infographic showcase from HG, like a time lapse video of discoveries as they happened across the universe, watching the whole thing light up.
Can’t wait to give it a whirl 
I was using ETARC for the longest time, adapted to ATLAS-CSD when we got the decal but find myself typing ECSD out of habit the odd time. Good thing we can rename discoveries now.
My stance on the matter has always been, it can be XCSD, the X can be personal preference, wether you want to represent the forums past or represent the forums present. If I recall there were also different splinter factions within the CSD at the time of formation, that adopted a name related to their purpose affixed in front of the CSD.
I see CSD as the all encompassing umbrella and then the bit at the front presenting the travellers personal affiliation or downright vibe.
