Looks a bit harder to find on regular 12" vinyl, unless willing to spend, although I have not really looked deep into it. Came across a nice boxset, which might get expensive in Stereo for a later reissue. This one in Mono is alright though: Nat King Cole – The Nat King Cole Story Discogs
I found a few places I could purchase the above version, and may actually go for this one myself. I’d likely prefer an old version though.
You got yourself a nice collection there, and certainly worth cherishing having been gifted.
Ohhh, love that cabinet, been hoping to run into something alike from the 60s/70s. Although I have also considered making one myself. Will not be enough to store everything though, but nice to use on the side with my pickup and monitor speakers on top, just for a selection of records I am into at any moment.
I looked for a list but could not find one.
There is an album called Autumn, I think…
I can find the original single but it is 78 rpm…I used to have a player that played those. I have several 78s. My mom’s player will play them.
I opted for the ultimate set even though it is a 2018 release.
Will keep searching the flea markets and coffee shops
Thanks for the lists!
Hot Springs has a store I did not even know was there.
Downtown Record & CD Emporium
Yes, too bad searching Discogs by title gives a lot of shellac 78s. I don’t own any, although I am curious to learn more. My dad was totally into them and cherished quite a collection. All I know is they require a different needle because the grooves are bigger. I can play 78 rpm on my pickup, just need a stylus/cartridge for it. I should get an extra headshell just to be prepared for any other choice for that matter.
That store looks like a fun day out!
Ohhh, and of course … Discogs > Artist page
Then use the search field for their discography (Releases) > “Orange-Colored Sky” and add some additional filters > Format > LP (in this case)
The Olllam are a very enjoyable prog band with an emphasis on Uilleann Pipes and groove. Siomha needs no introduction. This one time, on bandcamp (and other music services) they knocked a Collab out and it’s always a treat
Bonus Siomha video with bonus Joe Dart on the bonus Joe Dart bass.
Maybe an oscilloscopes among those? Would be nice to create more advanced visuals ‘from’ or for our bytebeats.
A nice novelty release from a while back that came with a windows install as well. I doubt I’ll grow a collection, but it’d be fun adding a 3.5" drive to my current setup.
I was obsessed with the cure, I think I must have pissed off every DJ in every bar/wedding from my teens through my twenties requesting Love Cats. Disintegration is still on heavy rotation.
It’s one of those, “this band meant a lot to teenage me, that I’m almost afraid to let the adult me listen to anything new by them”, kinda things.
I’d seen these remixes get suggested to me as they were coming out and have been too chicken to stick them on. But one by 65dos? Well… How could I resist. They’ve worked with Robert Smith in the past on one of their records so it’s full circle
And sure, for old times sake… Hey. Mr DJ, have you got any cure? Yeah? Oh man, can you put The Love Cats on later?
Also somehting of importance to note about that Cure Remix album.
It comes in a double CD format and a Triple CD extended format.
65dos only appear on the Triple CD. So if anyones planning on picking it up a physical copy make sure it’s that version (I’m sure theres a extended edition on Vinyl too that should have these 8 additional tracks).
Really enjoyed this remix, hearing some old 65DOS sounds/crescendon’ts I haven’t heard from them the last few albums, remeniscent of stuff on We were exploding LP. Which makes sense because that was around the time they were touring with the cure in the late 00’s
Ah yes, I should have mentioned this, same on vinyl! I sort of assumed others to read the link included.
Give it a listen HERE or on the usual streaming services. Links to everything here (but check the tracklisting if you’re going to be a physical version - the 65days cut is only on the fully-fledged version, not the more condensed (i.e. cheaper) versions available).
I personally waited for some reviews to come in first, as I was afraid of this just being the usual cash grab for a quick release. However, it is said to actually be well worth it, so I purchased after all. Has some tracks that specifically interest me; Orbital, Four Tet, Trentemøller, Mogwai. Glad I did not wait too long, as several shops have already sold out for this full-fledged release. Looking forward to it!
Previous post by 65dos describing some of the history
My son is here replacing all the 2 prong outlets I still had in my house (a lot, I hate to say)
Anyway he found out I got new speakers so he brought his own spins
John C Reilly is a child of Ireland through and through, never has been one of those type milking their roots for accolades, understands and spends time in the culture.
So it’s nice to see him let that history of his family flow through this musical act he’s built around himself, very reminiscent of irish song writers from the vaudeville period (before the big band sound overtook the island and Joe Dolan became the new Jesus Christ for island dwellers.)
And here’s one of many good reasons he’ll always be a true ambassador for our Island Better than the ones we grow here, for sure. But the less said about that, the mcgregor. I mean, the better.
