Music Tastes among ETARCers?

Love the mad improv, interaction, and magic that regularly happens whenever Ari goes about town.

Just saw one of his vids for the first time yesterday too and sent it to many friends, the algorithm is certainly pushing this boy this week

A local band from Maynooth that I assumed split up because Lockdown, just released a new song ;0;

They’re one of those, we make RPG SNES music but it’s rock, kinda bands. Also pretty sure their name is a reference to a certain FF7 weapon/a massive joint :joy:

Caught them on a random night out in Whelan’s once, was intrigued when a third guitarist entered the set and hooked after the first bar 07

Clint Eastwood will always be Rowdy Yates to me. Rawhide spoiled me for his later stuff.

I hear you! Just added this to my collection about a week ago or so, coincidence or what ?!

Speaking of, I also came across these recently:

Not bad, considering they were all like €0,50 - €1,00 a piece at best

You’re tempting me to binge-watch these!

Last I watched when it comes to Westerns, was prolly years back when I was recommended to watch the Lonesome Dove saga. Quite enjoyed it actually.

  1. “Dead Man’s Walk” - set in the early 1840s

  2. “Commanche Moon” - set in the 1850-60s

  3. “Lonesome Dove” - set in mid-to-late 1870s

  4. “Return to Lonesome Dove” - set a year after the above

  5. “Streets of Laredo” - set in the early 1890s

I can’t recall ever seeing any vinyl devoted to Morricone here in the states. I will keep looking.

I can’t remember if I posted about it or not already but I also picked up an Ennio Morricone soundtrack last winter on a whim. I was browsing in a store and it jumped out at me, I also had yet to add any movie soundtracks to my collection over there years so it felt about time. It’s for one of the Dario Argento films he worked on

Could not resist that 70’s italian horror movie cover art

Nice one! Interesting and typical art used for the movie (Renato Casaro), would catch my eye as well. Looks to be the 2018 (180gr) reissue, not a bad price either.
Discogs :link:

Will keep an eye out for this one :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: and a few more:

What’s the difference between a rock guitarist and a jazz guitarist?

A rock guitarist plays three chords to an audience of thousands …

I like how the punchline to your jazz joke was the words you didnt say.

Have had another monthly visit to one of my favourite local thrift stores. And as usual (for some time now), I end up purchasing a whole bunch of records again. This specific store has been getting new inventory regularly for a while now, which is great. Downside is having to go through it all, and then hours later be told the shop is about to close. Rarely get a chance to look for some other things anymore. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

This time I ran into some really nice Nina Simone. First one is a reissue, second a compilation, both from the 80s. The last one from '65, I am especially happy with.

Several Jazz, which I am always looking for: Erroll Garner, Krupa/Hampton/Wilson, Duke Ellington, ‘Fats’ Waller, Teagarden/Russell, Winifred Atwell (piano ragtime/boogie), Harry James and his orchestra (big band), Nat King Cole (swing/bop), Shirley Bassey (easy listening).
They always have a lot of Benny Goodman and Glenn Mills for some reason, which I have started to mostly just skip altogether, as it is not quite what I hope to find when it comes to Jazz.

A nice '79 Muppets movie OST (with a fun etching in the runout).

A couple more Movie, Musical, and alike as well: Cinema & Broadway Gold by the London Philharmonic Orchestra (various), The Sound of Music OST, Marlon Brando Music Themes, The Woman in Red OST, and another various with Ennio Morricone Western Themes. Also a George Gershwin (Rhapsody in Blue) accompanied by Michael Tilson Thomas conducting the Columbia Jazz Band.

Oh and also … Beatrix Potter :face_with_hand_over_mouth:(will have to look for part 1 now):

My collection is growing rapidly, with plenty more I have not even mentioned here. Will have to be looking into storage expansion real soon!

But I really, really want a Cole record with Orange-Colored Sky and I cannot find one
I have a huge Billy Vaughn collection. He covered just about every kind of music there was at the time

Ok I think that’s all of them
I have Sinatra, Dean Martin, the list is long. My grandpa collected for years and transferred his favorites to reel to reel and then gifted me his entire collection as a graduation present.
I treasure it
I found this cool retro record cabinet at a flea market.

It’s packed…
I have a good stereo I bought years ago but still lack good speakers…
So I am currently using some desk speakers :joy:
