Music Tastes among ETARCers?

No matter how bad the day, no matter how dire the situation, I can put Bill Wurtz on and everything is perfectly in order and how it is supposed to be.

I havenā€™t talked about it at all here because I want this to be one place where the drama doesnā€™t follow me, but my brother is essentially waging psychological warfare on my father and itā€™s been a tricky time to navigate alongside other things. Letā€™s just keep it at that

But I put this on and it suddenly feels like thereā€™s a path through the trash to a better situation

If anyone has any go to feel good songs they put on, guilty pleasure or not, send em all my way

Iā€™m afraid I will laugh too much on the bus and get thrown off if I play this so I will wait for home butā€¦

Is this a metal song about over the counter drug relief for gastric problems? :joy:

Oh, it is much more than that. It is an epic song about the epic struggle against the vile oozes threatening to overcome all that is good and sacred in this world. Well, kind of. I mean, itā€™s a metal song in the style of rhapsody of fire, both musically and lyrically, but itā€™s also a song about diarrhea. Also, it contains the most iconic part of bohemian rhapsody, just because the song name sounded similar to the of the band that inspired them :person_shrugging:

They also have metal songs about Ikea, dandruff, wheather prognosis and, not to forget Uranus. Yes, that Uranus. I mean, kinda both of them at the same time. Go figure. Theyā€™re basically what happens if you go full Dada on power metal, but at the same time are a genuinely great metal band.

Iā€™ll be filing this next to this Twelve Foot Ninja video for future use

Iā€™ve never actually listened to them at length, just know this video, but my impression of them is theyā€™re Heavier Australian Mr Bungle, and they pair nicely with Nanowar of Steel

Reposting this song again because while it was Cathartic after trumpā€™s first term ended, it hits differently now.

ā€œOrange you glad I won?ā€

I always adored this song for being so on the pulse upon itā€™s release, it came out around the time people were insisting Cracker was a hate word against ā€œwhiteā€ people and some Twitch bans happened as a result.

Ultimately itā€™s clearly about MAGA and social media echo chambers, so I think itā€™s time to put it back into circulation

On Cracker Island it was born
To the collective of the dawn
They were planting seeds at night
To grow a made-up paradise
Where the truth was auto-tuned (forever cult)
And itā€™s sadness I consumed (forever cult)
Into my formats every day (forever cult)
In the end, I had to pay (what world is this?)
In the end, I had to pay (I purged my soul)
In the end I had to pay (I drank to riot)
Nothing more to say (I drank to riot)

They taught themselves to be occult
They didnā€™t know its many strategies
They taught themselves to be occult
They didnā€™t know its many strategies (fantasies)
What world is this?
What world is this?

On Cracker Island it was raised (hey, hey, hey, hey)
By the collective from the grave (hey, hey, hey, hey)
It only came out at night (hey, hey, hey, hey)
It ate up their paradise (paradise)
Where the truth was auto-tuned (forever cult)
And itā€™s sadness I consumed (forever cult)
Into my formats every day (forever cult)
In the end, I had to pay (what world is this?)
Out there on my silver lake (I was not there)
In the end, it will be great (beneath the hills)
Iā€™m like a ship between the tide (I saw myself)
I held on, I survived (there in the void)

They taught themselves to be occult
They didnā€™t know its many strategies
They taught themselves to be occult
They didnā€™t know its many strategies (fantasy)
(Ooh, ooh)

On Cracker Island it will die (forever cult)
Join the collective in the sky (forever cult)
And on a shining bolt of light (forever cult)
Go up to paradise (what world is this?)
Where the truth is auto-tuned (I purged my soul)
And itā€™s sadness I consume (I drank to riot)
Into my formats every day (I drank to riot)
In the end I had to pay (forever cult)
In the end Iā€™ll have to pay (forever cult)
In the end Iā€™ll be okay (forever cult)

This runs in my head everytime I think about The Drone. I think it may have been posted before. Our playlist is getting fairly long.

My favorite version

Or this one

One of my favourites. I like them both, but, like @sheralmyst, I think I prefer the original German version.

There was a time when we thought the world could change for the better. When the future looked hopeful. Remember this? It became pretty much the theme tune to the fall of the Berlin wall. For a while, we thought the West and Russia could become friendsā€¦

I think we are about to see a weird relationship flipā€¦Russia is being referred to as the ā€˜frenemyā€™ of the next admin. But with so many uncertainties on what exactly the stand of some of these people are and so many phone calls behind closed doors and a completely lack of transparencyā€¦who knows what is brewing any more.

What the hell is a ā€œstein of beerā€ supposed to be?

 just a big mug of beer. A large drinking vessel usually made of stoneware.

Old German usage, long ago adopted into English. Nowadays (at least the last time I was in Munich) itā€™s ā€œMasskrugā€.

(edit) Sorry, itā€™s a PITA trying to persuade my keyboard to do Eszets and Umlauts.
