Not quite ready for space yet, but hey, 150m is a start right?

“Could it be a black hole threatening to trap Jupiter in the unavoidable grip of its gravity?”
I love it when people get worked up over what should be obvious.
Some theories make about as much sense as this song

Okay, okay. So this is not a space mission in reality but, I sure wish it was.I can not wait for this!

“only on CBS All Access”

What does that mean? Is it one of those exclusive payTV things?

I haven’t wanted to see a new movie so much since… uh… since the one in which Han Solo died (maybe, probably, who knows? He’ll probably come back as a blue ghost someday)

Thanks for posting this!

Picard is one of my favorite characters from Star Trek. However, I can’t say I am looking forward to the new show.

Not only is there the issue of another subscription just to see it, which takes several shows for me to consider purchasing, but there is a terrible track record lately for sequels and reboots. I would rather Picard be left alone than chance the character to be dishonored or deconstructed.

I would worry as well but, I have faith that Patrick Stewart would not stand for his character being derailed. :crossed_fingers:

… Or, rather, asking friends to record the show for you. :innocent:

Let’s hope it doesn’t start multiplying up there…

It’s a shame they don’t give any specs. How tiny is it really? what’s the mass? expected lifetime? If it works well enough, would it be feasible to pack a few dozen of them into another launch? Because that’s where things start to get really fun!

On their website a mass of 1 - 1.3 kg is shown. They have a model, which looks to be quite small indeed, about 5 inches (~12cm) cubed for the body if I were to estimate. I don’t actually think they have anything concrete just yet, but if funding permits, they have until Q3 2021.

Who knows, but the website shows ‘Swarm Intelligence’, so possibly not meant to be alone?

Well, it started with a crypto crowdfunding campaign. Look into Swarm Technologies (Swarm Corp). Don’t ask me how it all works though, as I don’t care for crypto in any way. I find it all pretty shady, but could very well be due to my lack of interest.

i have similar feelings about that.

I’m not meddling in it economically, because I don’t trade in anything, but I find the concept fascinating. It’s effectively a currency backed by the value of processing power. That seems like a very viable backing for the future.

Transactions need to become a lot faster to make it a usable mainstream currency, but people are working on that.

I agree its concept is fascinating or at least used to be for as far as I am concerned. The fact that ‘most’ of it wouldn’t be able to exist without a tie to ‘real’ money (Fiat Currency), says a lot to me though. Not to mention the fact that those in ‘true’ control are still the ones who own most, the ‘rich’. I honestly don’t like it in its current form, unless you are in for a gamble.
