Good question. Is the count attached to each save separately or attached to your user profile?
Iād love it if bases from deleted saves just remained out there to be found.
NMS suffers from a bit to much āsamenessā when it comes to structures. Every wreck, NPC base Opperations centre etc. is just a cut & paste. I can dig up cargo pods at a freighter almost on muscle memory alone. Would it really be that hard to mirror swap some things or impliment the ādungeonā proc-gen the derilicts have? Would certainly spice up the exploration.
I know for a fact that one of mine still is. The old ETARC headquarters base I built years ago got blasted into space by an update shrinking the planet - but the parts are still out there, circling in space - along with the comm balls visitors left.
I must have deleted that save about 6 or 7 years ago - but the base parts linger on.
The count is local, so whatever base and however many parts you uploaded doesnāt really matter. Although it may all still exist though download from the server, you are only limited to what exists locally. This also means you can however only make changes to what is there locally, as you are missing the āonlineā references to what may have once been yours.
Very helpful. It clears up a lot of confusion.
It does, however, suggest that there could be any amount of stuff still out there, uploaded to servers, but no longer under the control of any active player.
I recall one of my bases being buried deep within a planet. That happened at the same time @Polyphemus base was left in space.
I returned to the ETARC shrine recently and found bits of someone elseās base. I left and returned again to find all back to normal.
One time I found bits of my own base which should no longer be there.
I believe another member had been there just before I had been there.
As far as I can tell, so long as you donāt delete the base within the game, it stays on the servers even if you delete the save itās from.
You will not see this base however, as you are restricted from seeing bases youāve made in other saves under the same profile.
The only real (inexpensive) way around this is to have multiple profiles/usernames, easier done on console as there is library sharing with accounts on same console.
Not so much on pc platforms. Though I do recall Steam introducing a new family library share feature? Is that similar to game sharing on consoles? Has anyone experimented with this on steam/NMS to see if it works the same?
The other way around this is the expensive way, which is owning multiple platforms and copies of the game. Which is how I go about having two bases present and uploaded on a planet as being fortunate to have pc and console versions of the game.
My daughter and I have looked into it a little. It seems she can play my games while she is online so basically a cloud version? Not entirely sure of the details.
Thatās essentially how it works, you can still play your games offline without a license verification, the shared console or steam account will require an online connection to play your library.
Iāve done this for playstation consoles the last three gens.
I set my console as my secondary, so I need an internet connection and to be logged in to my account and nobody elseās, to verify playing my games, but a friend whose console Iāve set as my primary, can play my games on their profile even offline once downloaded.
I really like this model of digital sharing. (Since I canāt recall a time when Iāve suddenly lost internet connection, our ISP is historically solid, helps when youāre a small island nation)
Originally on PS3 it had no console limit either. You could give your login details to a friend, they could download all your games, and then play them offline on their profiles.
I totally get why they reduced it to only one console share, but those were good times and probably the biggest thing that got me to switch to digital purchases (no doubt the intention on Sonyās part somewhat).
You wait until the donkey dies, and stops turning that big wheel.
That did happen a few days ago, Sonys live services, particularly the part that verifies licenses, pooped the bed.
I just switched to PC and loaded my save on crossplay
Stupid donkey wheel.
As for the hamster wheel that runs our ISP (very kind of you to consider my country has Donkey Money) if it does fail, I have free unlimited monthly 4g with my pay as you go mobile phone package (15e a month) and can use my phone as a hotspot.
Not ideal for online play but perfect for license verification.
Should all three somehow fail miserably at once⦠Well either Russiaās having craic off the west coast again or Iām just out of luck.
The entire Isle of Man power supply comes from turning this big wheel. Mind you, they do have a serious hamster.
I have noticed all the pics you post over the last week have been very slow to process. They do eventually make it though.
For those who are particular about these things, my above post was a lie. The Isle of Man has power stations, just like everyone else. And they probably run them by burning Russian gas, just like everyone else. And, like everyone else, they pretend the gas came from somewhere else.
But, you know, when you put it like that, itās just not funny any more.
Itās only been happening with this cheap replacement phone I got a few months back, it canāt even open a second app without completely closing everything else. Notifications will take me out of calls. Itās worse than a first gen smartphone somehow. Even just minimising an app doesnāt keep it in memory. When you return to it via recent apps it starts up completely fresh.
Avoid Xiaomi like the plague, seems to be a notoriously common hardware issue thatās been reported for years with no workable solution.
I canāt even use the web browser for purchases because it will then require approval from my banking app. Guess what happens when the notification for the banking app appears
Uploading is now rinse rinse repeat, it doesnāt even fail to upload, just hangs on processing. If I close or kill the post and start a new one, it still shows the processing icon and I canāt attempt to upload the photo. Even if itās a new separate post in a separate topic. I have to close the browser app down (I have also tried other browsers before I blamed the phone) to return to a post with an upload icon.
I have zero issues posting photos on pc which is being tethered to my WiFi router through my phone (no WiFi capabilities built into PC) so itās definitely not the phones connectivity.
I have actually being meaning to just transfer a bunch I have saved up onto an external HDD from console and then just drop them all here some day
