I did not take a pic but last night I found a planet called Arkansas. It felt like home.
Guess you’ll have to make it home ![]()
@DevilinPixy: Nice photos!
Going through Story once again. After having made a tough decision, an Atlas shaped Monolith pointed me to this Portal to speak with NULL. Is Atlas mocking me now?!
Well, … actually a little different this time around, or should I say, supposedly, because I bet it doesn’t really change the ‘technical’ state Artemis is in? lol, cheating on us?
I had better ren faire photos to match the lighting on seans face, but this one was too good, it was worth the clashing of sources.
Sean! The Weeeavers are cheeeating and making systems blue with hacky tags!!!11

Muhahahaha. I found this list ![]()
- <PET0> = green
- <PET1> = yellow
- <PET2> = blue
- <PET3> = red
- <PET4> = purple
You can insert icons into your base names with this too ![]()
I gave all my fishing bases the whale glyph used in portal addresses.
I always find the same old list posted years ago on reddit though, can never seem to find an up to date comprehensive list for img icons.
@toddumptious , see below:
Uh oh… this is harmless, but the software engineer in me is immediately going into alarm mode trying to think what other kinds of scripts it may be possible to inject that may not be… ![]()
I have always had the same feeling about it and I am pretty sure HG had to at least somewhat adjust to it being used. Sort of similar to XSS, where code is injected. I recall having researched quite a bit on this when this was first being tested. Most of the initial usage turned out harmless, as everyone started guessing the more obvious tags, but I have tried some in the past that had some funky issues.
Not sure how much of an issue they currently are, but the source for them has been commonly known for quite a while now. Still, use at your own risk I guess, as some references are more involved.
Of course, the whole problem is that if the data is uploaded and then downloaded by other players, it’s not at your own risk…
I know the rule that user submitted data needs to be sanitised, especially for multiplayer. HG are not exactly famous for sticking to that rule in multiplayer… Even with uploaded bases, rewards, corvettes, and weapon damage, the peers accept anything. When the game was released, I thought, surely they just switched multiplayer off while they were finishing it. But after it was finally switched on, it felt like it was crammed in retroactively?
I can’t believe multiplayer was meant to function (malfunction?) the way it does. I can only think it was bolted on to a game that wasn’t designed to be multiplayer - and it doesn’t work very well, but it’s a minor miracle that it works at all.
That’s a very polite way of saying what it really is. ![]()
NMS MP to me, brings to mind a delicate & finely crafted sports car, that somebody bolts a towball onto & then tows a home-made horse trailer loaded with passengers up a rough dirt road.
Some refinement is lost. ![]()
My favourite part is when a naturally generated name that I then tack ATLAS-CSD or ETARC on to, doesn’t pass the profanity filter and I actually can’t figure out which part of the name is causing it… One time it was just remedied by removing the roman numerals after the planet name. Most times I guess its something profane in a language/slang I don’t speak
As for the use of malicious code in a players base name, as far as I can tell it only recognises the stuff that HG themselves use to colour font/add symbols etc that are in the games Lang_Files. It seems to be entirely surface level. There’s also a character limit on base names, putting one fish glyph image in with my fishing base names is usually hitting the character limit.
I tried to see if it would recognise things like “I see you, %NAME%” or “ah, the %shipname%, in my system?” once to freak out visitors but those never worked. So it seems HG have decided/restricted which ones they want to work exactly.
These base name codes also display in their coded format when being viewed in a teleporters list of nearby bases etc.
All caps means shouting! And no one can hear you shout in space! ![]()
I don’t know why it gets blocked, maybe it’s the Scunthorpe problem - Wikipedia
That’s the kind of quality experiment I expect of the citizen science division.

Went to visit my PC self, since I spent a while gathering 1000 dioxite more than I needed to on PS5, for Polos resource mission for todays mid evening expedition repetable, to share the loot and speed things up a bit for myself.
Turns out my PC self is a turncoat and repping the Royals on the side ![]()
How my PC expedition character should look…
Gooooo Weavoyals!
